Among the many kooky 2.2 shader-based effect levels, this one stands out as having actual purpose to it. As the title implies, it's neural—it feels like a raw representation of a mind, part-organized and part-cluttered. I don't like the song though, an electronic track would have worked a bit better.

Rate I would give: Epic
From my video: "I really like the sort of analog looking style that this level is going for, all of the design choices and effects that were used contribute well to giving it a very unique look, for example the way some blocks appear suddenly on the edges of the screen, the exaggerated paralax, the custom font, and honestly even the way the camera moves. It's cool how there are always only two colors present at a time but they're always distributed equally and the visuals still have the right amount of detail. The gameplay is also pretty good and all of it is sightreadable except for maybe one click where it's not too clear where you're supposed to go. The only thing that I don’t like about the level... is the song. [...] But anyway, I think neural pathways is sgamet's most solid level right now and I’m interested to see what he does in the future"

Such an interesting level. The use of shaders in this level to create atmosphere is impeccable! It's so well done. The song isn't usually the type of song I like, but used in this context - it works really well. Probably thanks to the perfect song representation!! It couldn't get better imo. Plus, love the subtle details like the small default cube jumping in sync with the lyrocs, and the "I am SGameT" sequence at the end. It's the gameplay that just doesn't excite me - it's just standard sync gameplay. I do respect the creator for making the gameplay simple in order for the player to synthesize the text in the level, but still it doesn't help the gameplay from being kinda bland :/. Overall, great level! Will definitely be looking forward to more levels from SGameT :))

Neural Pathways was my first introduction to SGameT, and I found them through the Underrated amazing GD creators Twitter account. They had simply posted about two levels of their's, Neural Pathways, and H2. I watched Neural Pathways and I was INSTANTLY hooked. SGameT's use of shaders in this level is absolutely PERFECT, and the song representation is just as good. I highly implore you to play this level for yourself if you haven't, it's only seven stars and yet it's an experience you won't forget.
