just because a level is revolutionary and changed the history of the game from a certain point onward, it does not mean it's good gameplay wise. bloodbath has always been seen as this titan of geometry dash due to the impact it had on release and the amount of time it took for the level to get a single victor in the form of quasar. the visuals aren't anything extraordinary for the time but still hold up decently well but oh my god the gameplay is some of the worst i've ever played in an extreme. the balancing is awful given that the level is literally just either dying to michi or getting to etzer with literally zero in between which just makes the level incredibly mindnumbing to play from zero. even after beating it at least 75 times and with a guitar hero controller, i'd recommend anyone to tread cautiously if they want to play this, or sometimes i even recommend an outright different level entirely
Listen, this level has a special place in my heart just like many others, but I gotta look at this objectively, and the truth is, this level is a whole lotta honk shoo.
I ain't talking about the visuals - my nostalgic ass is a sucker for 1.9 hell themed stuff, and this right here is some primo stuff from the genre, topped only by a few levels, notably its predecessor Cataclysm. I mean the gameplay. Dear GOD. If I had to summarize in one sentence, this level is a "die to Michigun repeatedly and then fluke to 80%" simulator. There's no way around it, the balancing is straight up asscheeks. Can't be too mad, given the age of the level - when you're making the hardest thing that's been seen in the game, usually down the line as people become more skilled there will be some parts of your level that turn out to be way easier than you thought. It's hard to predict how the game and the skillsets of its players are going to evolve over the years. Still, the fact remains - Michigun (rest in peace) is a massive chokepoint, and everything else ranges from "even a toddler could do it" to "pretty easy but nerves might kill you".
As a result, and also considering the length of the level, playing from 0% is a miserable experience. I spent hours upon hours mindlessly passing the first few parts with ease, only to die to the gauntlet at 30%. The few attempts here and there where I made it past Michigun, I had an attempt going - oftentimes I would make it all the way to Etzer no problem. However, the last few parts are in that second category I mentioned, where there's still some precise inputs and your nerves can get the better of you. And boy was I nervous. Maybe I'm biased because of the fact that I died way too many times to Gboy's ball, and even fumbled the final triple spike, but I didn't even care that much - I knew I could do it eventually, it was making it past the first half of the level that was the problem.
So yeah. Honk shoo. Honk mimimi. Snore snore zzzzz- WAIT OH GOD I'M GETTING FAR oh I died to the Etzer straight fly like an idiot anyway mimimimi...
El extreme demon mas memorable de todos
Probablemente el nivel más importante del juego
historically an amazing level, currently an okay level, personally a terrible level. this gameplay sucks
Review: "Bloodbath" by Riot
Rating: ★★★★★★★★★★★ (10/10)
"Bloodbath" by Riot is not just a level—it’s a monument in Geometry Dash history. As one of the most iconic and defining Extreme Demons ever created, it set a new bar for difficulty, design, and legacy that still resonates with players to this day.
Released during a time when top-tier demons were just beginning to gain serious attention, "Bloodbath" took everything to the next level. Its aggressive gameplay, brutal timing, and dark, intense aesthetic created an unforgettable experience that both challenged and inspired an entire generation of players. Backed by a haunting remix of "At the Speed of Light", the atmosphere is gripping from the very first click.
But what truly makes "Bloodbath" special is the collaboration behind it. With contributions from legendary creators like Vermillion, Michigun, and more, and refined to perfection by Riot, the level feels like a tribute to the early Geometry Dash elite. Each part has its own flavor, but Riot’s finishing touches bring a unified intensity that elevates it to masterpiece status.
For many, beating "Bloodbath" is still a badge of honor. For the community, it's a symbol of how far the game—and its players—have come.
A 10/10 titan. "Bloodbath" is raw, iconic, and forever engraved in the heart of Geometry Dash.
