Peak of platformer creativity I love this so much
Beautiful visuals as expected from xuser, it's really fun to watch. Sadly I found this really irritating to play with the really quick inputs you have to do, I probably would've liked this way more if there wasn't a really strict time limit for the orb combos
Me and Xuser have already talked ad nauseam about this level, so I'll keep this brief: we both generally concur on the fact that the shop and item system is pretty contrived and that trying to ham in a sort of linear progression to an open level was probably overly ambitious. I brought up at one point that the ideal version of this level might not have any actual gameplay aspects at all and rather just exist as a world to explore and marvel at all the brilliantly placed details and beautiful, intricate designs.
The thing is, this version of the level still exists within the level! The combo system is extremely enjoyable, so it certainly doesn't detract from the experience and it incentivizes exploration. Once you've completed enough, anyways, you can unlock every orb type and even a nice zoom out on the camera and the UFO gamemode to freely roam and this truly stunning world unfolds before you, and having worked so hard for it, it almost means more.
So, I think I changed my mind about the ideal version of this level. The ideal is that it exists at all. Which it does. Isn't that lovely?
best platformer in the game by a thousand miles. this thing is stunning, every single little section has so much care and attention to detail it's insane. 30 minutes into my first playthrough and i was still discovering new areas of the map lol. really feels like its own little world. favorite parts:
- the little flowers made of pink pads (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- the teleport portals between the blue orb and yellow orb structures
- the sun and smaller yellow orbs revolving around it
- the bottom right fire section that was painfully hard to get into without red orb access
- the blue orb waterfalls (and the delightful combo challenge that goes along with it)
- the overgrown yellow pink and red orb semicircles in the bottom left
The Best Platformer level that has been released so far.
I love the concept of this one. Basically, you need to complete short trials where you need to touch pads and click orbs in a sequence. So simple yet it feels amazing and relaxing in practice.
The trials are great, the chests are fun to look for, the map is pretty short but full of unique locations, the speedrun of this level is funny (those who know) but also fun to learn, the visuals are outstanding (xuser is flexing his structuing skills and also has a unique approach to decoration)
There’s so much you can do here that everyone will not have the same experience as others, but will still have a great time.
The best way to chill in this game imo
