first time on here i just found a level i hadnt seen before (i used to keep up with ILL stuff but not as much recently) and instantly got what it was trying to do. i usually try to let levels sit for a bit but this one's pretty obviously something special. was rly excited to see the new top 1 ILLs of the 2.2+ era coz it has a lot of fucked up stuff & im glad i got my wish of something genuinely challenging to look at, coz that fits the vibe of the list very well. i don't think i need to say much about the level itself. just watch it

also, this is in the small handful of levels that are in fact not red/hellish enough. just find it disappointing because brutal death metal* is the most red genre of music out there and the fact that this level has anything that isn't red, black, and occasionally orange, should be considered a crime. it's also that it just looks really unfinished. maybe it is? if it ends up finished and i like how it looks ill bump to an 8

(*a footnote that i think more people should know that brutal death metal specifically is the *really* really fast and heavy stuff like this. though there is a sizable following for bdm, it's often viewed as a more 'every album in it sounds kinda the same' subgenre of metal. 'normal' death metal is not typically as heavy, though still heavier than most music, and especially the older stuff can be like a third of the tempo of this. typical bdm is like the jontron mariachi gag, this one i'd probably also consider technical death metal (aka techdeath) cuz there's a lot more emphasis on changing up the rhythms constantly over pure blastbeats)

This level perfectly encapsulates every single sound in this song so perfectly and it is mesmerizing. The amount of effort that must be put into making each and every little (or rather loud) sound be visualized in such a way that Necrotic Majesty does is beyond spectacular. If you are looking for deco in a level like this I am sorry because this was not meant for you. If you are looking for a story or a deeper meaning to this well it's not for you either. If you hate heavier music such as what's used in this song, that's alright. This level is not meant for many people and most people are going to see this as a pile of filth rotting on the shitty asphalt at a cheap motel. This is not meant for people who just like the typical geometry dash level. I see this level as having one main goal. And it is to show their raw talent in music representation. Of all the categories of what makes a level good, I find music representation to be the utmost important. Of all the levels in this game, I believe this is the third best level in terms of how well it visualizes the song it is using. The only 2 levels (currently as of writing this) that I would say do a better job are Death Moon and Unnerfed Sakupen Circles. These kinds of levels just do something that other levels don't. They actually make sense. They fit so well that they could be the actual videos for the songs. It is incredibly hard to pull something like that off. Unfathomably hard. And for this level to make every single note be seen is just so cool to see. I absolutely love this. I also want to mention how this is also done with super sped up gameplay. That means every second of gameplay is actually significantly longer in the editor, and yet, the sounds are still perfectly represented. This speed up feature is one of the best additions of 2.2 and this level does something unique and uses it to its absolute fullest potential with the gameplay here. If there is anything keeping me from giving this a 10 it is simply that it does not satisfy the other standards that I look for in levels. Just because it does one thing perfectly cannot satisfy me enough to rate it a 10. This level doesn't quite check the boxes for everything but the one thing it did right, is perform one of the most majestic audio visualizations in Geometry Dash and it did it near perfectly.

amazing sync (derogatory)

This level really does match its song. Its just that the song sounds less like a song and more like noise, and as a result this level feels less like a level and more like noise. I can barely think of anything happening in this level even after watching it repeatedly and in slow motion, it's the GD equivalent of TV static. I have no idea what the judges saw in this that lead them to think it should win the CC, and frankly I'm not even sure what the judges saw at all, I certainly can't see anything.

Genuinely the worst ILL top 1 ever
