I love how earnest and joyful this level feels. I have no clue how people could find this level "corporate" or "soulless", it does so many insane things that I think no true soulless manufactured level would ever have the courage to do. Corporate levels stay safe. They pull all the safe, tried-and-true bells and whistles. This level doesn't do that. How many levels abruptly stop everything to deliver an evil monologue, only to have that monologue interrupted by an orange buff cube guy who helps you up to an escape pod??!?!

And maybe this is just me, but this plays unbelievably well. With so much shit happening on-screen, I have no idea how I was able to get through it all in like 1 attempt. I can tell this is a super polarizing level by looking at the reviews here, but I can't deny I love this level. It's like the GD equivalent of "Who Killed Captain Alex" or "Megan" if "Megan" was good.

Not gonna lie, I had a gut feeling that people would not like this level due to the fact that there is just so much going on and some parts of the gameplay apparently can't function properly, and well... I was correct, lmao. If this were to place in the Top 10, I'd figured people would absolutely despise playing it to the point that they'd send denberZ dts. Thankfully crisis was averted and it placed Top 20 instead. (Probably...)

Not to discredit denberZ or anything. I actually think this level is really cool. It definitely feels like you're the main character of the level and has some insane cinematics. This is a level that I would consider more watch worthy than play worthy though. Again, there's a lot going on in the level, so there's little to no telling what the hell you're supposed to do at times.

If you're VERY interested in trying to beat this level, then go for it. Elsewise, maybe spare yourself from playing this.

People always seemed to complain about a lot of these Space Gauntlet entries that go for this over-the-top high art style, focusing too much on that rather on the gameplay. And as much as there are a lot of those, I do appreciate the work put into most of them and still think they look visually appealing to an extent, making them feel like they’re more playable than they look to be. Galatikus is not one of those levels. I find this one to be way too goofy with its over-the-top visuals and this overly cinematic approach and constant sound effects makes it really jarring to watch overall. It’s as if Michael Bay directed a Geometry Dash level and I don’t mean that in a positive way. Not to mention it wasn’t really that fun to play either.

a few years ago i went to universal studios and they have a bunch of rides where they show you some 3D rendered video while moving around your seat, blowing wind in your face, spraying you with water, etc. and watching (yea im not playing this shit) galatikus feels exactly like these rides—that is to say, it's all spectacle and no substance. the orchestral score and overdone realistic aesthetic have zero flavor and so much random shit happens for no reason other than "wouldn't it be so epic if i did this??" and of course there's nothing inherently wrong with levels doing something cool for the sake of it, but when the entire experience is just a hollow series of 'epic' moments strung together, it culminates in a level that is so desperate to be the greatest level of all time and yet so unconfident in its ability to do so that it willingly sacrifices everything that makes geometry dash levels good at all.

despite my scathing review, i give it bonus points because it's so absurdly over the top it's comical. honestly a better parody of space gauntlet entries than cosmic level.
