Honestly, so many people feel like they're free to just shit on this level for absolutely no reason. There's a massive difference between giving valid criticism and disrespecting the level and its creator, it's honestly embarrassing, regardless of if you feel like this level should've won or not. I think visually this level is incredible, the comic style was executed perfectly and also contextualized within comic strip sections throughout the level, which I think was a fantastic touch from vegtam. The space theme was also interpreted in a unique way, which makes me think this level deserved to be placed highly in the contest.
Personally, I just think the gameplay was a little lackluster. Unfortunately, it's something that can happen when you aim to make an easier level, and it's even more likely when the visuals are as dynamic as the ones in Abducted. Maybe aiming for a slightly higher difficulty, such as 5/6 Stars, could have helped make the level flow more smoothly and at the same time not turn the gameplay into semi-automatic, but the merits exceed the issues by a large number. Very happy for vegtam, and I hope that, despite the negativity coming from the community surrounding the placement, he keeps up making bangers. So much unjustified hate.
In so many senses, this is a truly great level.
I am slowly but surely getting tired of this type of "comic book style". A lot of them dont seem to have a ton of visual distinct-ness, and I couldn't tell you the names of the people who made each one, HOWEVER, this is probably one of if not the best levels that uses it.
The movement in this level is truly awesome; so much feels alive and vibrant, and so much of this level feels like it came out exactly as executed, and in some of the later parts, that shows strong. I love Abducted's visual energy, it's really cool.
The way the gameplay works is incredibly disappointing to me. Although it doesn't feel like an afterthought (like it does in some other gauntlet levels), it feels very half-baked, and I'm defo personally not a fan of this almost auto-ifying levels in this way. It just makes them kind of boring to play, in my opinion. The pre-drop is probably the least interesting part.
People criticize this level's art a lot, and I think that's short-sighted. Yeah, its not amazing, but that is not the only part of the level. Like Rage Quit, I expected this level to get a lot of undeserved or (at best) misdirected hate, and it makes me want to rate it higher because a lot of the people are loudly annoying about it, but I'll try to stay with my opinion from when I first saw this. I like the level a lot, it has a visual energy that a lot of levels kind of fall flat with and some of the parts of this are incredible in that regard.
A bit overhated by this website but I feel like a lot of this community has a more conceptual view on Geometry Dash level quality. It is what it is I suppose.
I think this is a pretty fun level, has a good amount of charm although I'm not really the biggest fan of anime references and such. The gameplay feels a bit patronizing to me because it feels pretty hand-holdy. Good for accessibility but not the most engaging for me. I also think the rhythm game portion felt pretty unresponsive to my inputs which is something I think Vegtam should look into.
I like how a lot of this level looks visually. Nice colors and lots of good backgrounds and designs. It's cute seeing the Next Cab Soon influences being done in Vegtam's own style. I do think that Vegtam needs some work on his humanoid designs. The proportions of the characters usually had something off about them. I would have also preferred some better character animations, particularly in the rhythm section.
Pretty much an inoffensive level. Personally not my favorite space gauntlet entry but I think its very cool to see Vegtam get first, he is very talented and promising as a creator : )
I have no reason to dislike this. Gameplay being what it is is a shame, but it's simply a level of good vibes. Not my contest winner by any means, but still a level I like quite a bit.
wrote a review full of seethe earlier which i feel bad about. but this still is a godawful level, so repulsively unfunny that it makes me think less of vegtam as a person. you know his ass owns vtuber merch
Something about this level didn't actually have me feeling the way which was intended, the level felt childish and awkward, probably due to the odd internet culture references which seemingly have no place in a level like this, unless im missing something.. the level is far too short, the song is too repetitive so the level can't really create a good atmosphere other than "happy". Its done in such a boring way, through actually showing what happens, which is largely my problem with modern levels, before, levels would convey emotion through gameplay and block design, now creators simply make animations, which feels completely out of place to me, I prefer covert messaging and symbolism. The taiko section was also out of place and seemingly only utilised to show technical skill.
