When this first came out and got posted to 20 different channels in full Misanthrope-ripoff fashion I started pressing the right arrow key to skip ahead because I was getting bored (https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1703098151195090944/pu/vid/avc1/1354x720/s0qqoCoYBH34-N30.mp4?tag=12)

Some notes:

  • I wasn't even really conscious of the fact that I was doing this until ~1:45 in the YouTube video

  • After I realized I was doing this I decided to go back and record it, but aside from that this was unscripted

  • This is all despite Flamewall being a really good song

  • The good and interesting parts that I was hoping would be there do in fact exist! But combined they amount to about 15 seconds of a 7 minute level.

Great level that really manages to create pressure in a way that not a lot of other extreme demons can, really befitting for a top 1. Only bogged down by some monotonous sections, but that’s to be expected in a 6 minute list demon.

i remember seeing neiro showcase of this before anyone was verifying it i think, and after 3 minutes i just clicked off the video, because frankly the level looked identical for 7 minutes and was just a blur to me. the only valid explanation i can see for the mythic and legendary sends this level got is The Comatose Theory: if the (not that interesting) level is a decade long, suddenly everyone will call it mythic worthy

Bordering on a 5. I can't hate the indulgence; it's really only a grand spectacle, but my type of grand spectacle, since it’s 1.9 styled. This is also the first time since probably Bloodlust where a (potential) top 1 knows its difficulty and accurately reflects that in its mood. Final part is a great example of this.

I think the main problem though is that every part is monkey-pawed in some way where there’s always one or more details that sours me on them. Going back to the last part for example, why does the icon just randomly disappear during the most climactic part of the level? Do they just not gaf about how the icon moves throughout their part? Is it getting in the way? If so, of what? Very confusing decisions like these litter nearly every single part of this level and it’s so frustrating.
