Oh man I actually remember this level back when I played it, the error thingy was such a cool detail to the level tbh, loved this collab, and the gameplay is pretty fun after learning!

Freedom is a special collab to me, I believe its age is some of the most visible in any level yet I believe there’s something about its unordinary pacing that prevents it from falling into complete obscurity. The level starts out with a soft blue/purplish palette, ethereal like the sky at the time of twilight. It turns to ill-lit evening until the faint bg noise loudens its voice into heavy chiptune sounds, now the environment making a drastic adjustment to the sudden music change by giving itself an authentic 8bit look. For a collab filled with this much inconsistencies this might be a far fetched interpretation, but this introductory section always stood out to me for the precedent it sets. The first drop part fulfils all the expectations I’m led to believe from the initial buildup, and if the rest continued to look like it I would’ve thought of the level at least twice as much as I do now, sadly the quality drops rather quickly and only a fringe of its thematic cleverness is seen back in the next minute or so. It’s easy to assume that everything else will follow to be just as disappointing, making for an incredibly underwhelming project overall, but then zhanders part comes in. Glitch effects of the likes are nothing out of the ordinary nowadays, but for a moderately average design collab of the time it’s certainly a well welcomed surprise. The gameplay is completely left aside for a good 20 seconds, the weight of the whole resetting phase is very heavily felt. It might look out of place at first but it makes total sense with the song and the entire premise I was talking about, it was a much needed reset all things considered! The other parts pick up from this strange intersection as if nothing happened, but all of them now looking slightly more adherent than the earlier set of mediocrity. It’s a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, which is a good thing considering the repetitive nature of these collabs. There’s undeniably way too much that can still be improved upon, but I think there is some knowledge to be gained from its effective results.
