It's just good fun that exudes through every pore of this level. Not exactly a technical marvel but I do like a few neat flourishes in the first half that keep it lively, such as the unique structuring of the first ship and UFO, or the rotating rings changing colors one at a time when you move through the gravity portals. It shows a lot more care than you would think on the surface.
This level is extremely fun to play, and Decode day of last year I remember beating this around 20 or so times on Geode which was really fun. This level I have quite a bit of history with as I called it my hardest for a very short period of time I think? Overall, the gameplay is very fun, and I find the visuals simplistic in all of the best ways.
DeCode is so iconic that most people are willing to completely brush off the lackluster decoration and thematic inconsistency permeating this level. That's fine, I can do that as well. It's a fine 1.9 level, I guess, and I quite like how its perceived difficulty has dropped over the years (mainly due to wave becoming the dominant gamemode among GD players, but still).
Pretty fun, especially the drop gameplay (yes, even the UFO section). The deco, while I'm not crazy about it, had some unique colors for an early 1.9 level and the designs were fun.
Also the hardest part is easily the ship at the end I don't know why the UFO has the rep of actually being the hardest part.
Very fun level. Nothing much to say about it. Solid 8/10
this is a masterpiece for 1.9 in every way
"At 100% speed, does this look possible to you?" yes it does I did it first try. (The wave that is I haven't actually beaten the level yet) It's a good level that deserves to be influential
