Ykw I changed my mind, Silent Clubstep's legacy IS a huge part of why the level is pretty decent. It was a level that intimidated and haunted even the greatest in the community for years, with small steps being taken forth each time, the 8 Jumps of Hell, the iconic first ship, Vision's legendary dedication until Paqoe set her mind to it, and got the fucking job done. Despite that, it's a weak level. Being apparently made in a rage if my memory serves me correct, it makes sense as to why the decoration is so messy and all over the place, the gameplay looks totally unappealing to watch: the only section I really do enjoy watching is the 8JoH, and the final maze. Something about it is just beautiful, the finality of it all makes it so intimidating, and a great way to end such a haunting demon.
Do I even need to say anything?
Every part of this is iconic and memorable and a core part of the game's history, literally down to the scale of individual clicks. There are very few levels that can make any of these claims, especially the last one.
The level is pretty damn bad but it really just packs in a solid six of the most iconic bits in any level ever (predrop cube dual into ship, BYE BYE into the drop ship, orb layered ball, ball/cube dual, 8joh, final maze) and that's being conservative. I can't decide if it's genius level design or it's just been so hamfisted into the collective consciousness, but either way I feel like it's gotta be doing something right.
A nerfed version of an old impossible level disguising itself as the real deal. Robs the level of all the aura it could have had.
