Very barebones in the best way possible, a 5 minute test of consistent memory that keeps you on your toes for every second that passes.

Really wanna see more Guitar Hero custom representation in GD though (Egoless when???)

Good as is, could be much better without the stupid fucking invisible mandatory touch triggers.

I think marathon is one of the greatest memory demons of all time, really cool ideas and gameplay fakes throughout its almost 5 minutes duration.

of course you cant talk about marathon without mentioning its progression, the song notably gets faster and faster, and marathon keeps throwing out new gameplay ideas and fakes every time you progress on these number levels, slowly changing the speed as it goes, this gets intense quickly especially later in the 2nd half, the speed is the fastest it can get, the colors pulse out dramatically and the gameplay is basically nuts.

I always imagined memory gameplay to be really easy once figured out and I still think thats the case with it, but I imagine the nerves skyrocket far away in marathon even though you basically know what to do, its like an actual marathon, you are constantly tired running and running just to cross that finish line, thats intense, all you have to do is to keep running, faster and faster.

I think the last part is a perfect conclusion for marathon, you return to the same aesthetic from the beginning, the deep red bloody color, and the beating heart repeats along with the same structure consistently while the gameplay is still, to keep up memorizing and passing, its as if you have gone over the limit, you need to keep pushing just a little further to reach the line, and having just passed the hardest parts in marathon, you will be nervous and your heart rate might get high around the end. I think its perfect, it brings the whole map together and overall feels incredible to beat.

you eventually do reach and cross the finish in the end, the song continues on and syncs with the level complete screen, as a celebratory sendoff. I love this map, its awesome and I hope to beat it one day.

this is the best extreme in the game hands down. great designs all around and the gameplay is super engaging and fun to figure out, the marathon concept is completely unique and executed perfectly as well. also worth noting the amount of variety there is here considering it's nearly five whole minutes of memory-centric cube gameplay. i hope to beat this someday
