"Broken Signal", in my opinion, is the epitome of perfection. Grax has masterfully designed gameplay that is both challenging and accessible, achieving the ideal balance for a level of this caliber. Each section transitions fluidly into the next, with a narrative that complements the energy of the music. This makes "Broken Signal" the perfect level for those looking to step into the realm of extreme demons without being overwhelmed by memorization or frustrating difficulty spikes.
However, it's in the decoration where "Broken Signal" truly excels, with decoration that rivals even the groundbreaking 2.2 levels released today. The level's glitchy aesthetic transforms into an atmosphere of controlled chaos; every grid space in the editor is filled with detail and color, from static flickers on the edges of structures to dynamic fragmented visuals encompassing the entire screen. Paired flawlessly with the chosen music, the immersive quality is genuinely exceptional, completely blowing me away on my first viewing.
This is the first and only extreme demon I've ever beaten and I wouldn't want to have it any other way. Absolutely love the atmosphere the whole way through, the effects are masterfully done and it's easily Grax's best work to date.
Fantastic level, it is arguably the best entry extreme in the game. It is visually cool and interesting while also being really fun to play. The drop has such cool visuals and the gameplay compliments that a lot. The middle part where it builds up to the drop feels so nice to pull off because of how it matches with the decoration and song, feeling tightened to a small space and then having that ship part and then the drop hits and you start see some of the structures literally melt. Actually some of the coolest things I have seen in a level. If you have not beaten an extreme yet, you should DEFINITELY try this one.
I always found this level to be slightly overrated, since people were always calling this the best extreme back in the day, but I feel like the hype for this level has mellowed out to where it should be now.
The effects are very ahead of its time and there's some cool art too. I love the concept of this level and it's pretty fittingly fun to play as well. I really enjoy the pad heavy bouncy gp it has and it slows down well with the energy of the level too.
Very consistently solid work and impressive given its length.
