My favorite gauntlet level visually, and one of my favorites gameplay wise. Nothing else quite like it.

Truly the only level from the World Gauntlet to really break of out the mold. Instead of overrelying on trying to insert every cultural reference it is way more calculated in its approach to tackling the prompt. Cave systems were a really cleever way to go about addressing the prompt since America's cultural heritage otherwise is... not really that great to make a compelling non-irony poisoned level about

Absolutely did not deserve the drama surrounding it

Awesome progression here for a 9 star level. I have my reservations about a few parts that rely a bit too much on that textured "realistic" style but I think the other parts greatly make up for it. The big problem here is with the jump indicators- they make no sense in this level as you're doing the equivalent of exploring uncharted territory. Each jump should be a bit of a risk!

That being said, I do think that this is the best WGC entry mostly because of how much more self aware it is compared to the other entries; in this case the level is about American imperialism a la Dances With Wolves or Avatar (although it was probably not intentionally designed this way). I actually think it does that shtick a teeny bit better since it doesn’t resolve, but also a little bit worse since it’s abstracted away and non-confrontational. Then again it’s also a fucking GD level so probably infinitely less memorable or entertaining

Very cool storytelling. You fall from the sky, climb down a mountain and keep going all the way to the center of the planet, where you fly into a portal that takes you to a mysterious dimension that is never fully explained. The last third of the level feels a little disjointed, but it somehow kinda works.
