Watching this being built was like watching Beethoven paint the Da Vinki. At certain points, I wish I could cleanse everything I knew about this level pre-release just so I could experience it like everybody else did on release day.
Still to this day, I don't know if this level could be beaten in any caliber. I might be an extreme glazer, but yawl needa take a second to realize how much impact this level truly had on a large portion of the community at the time. It was insane, but even more damn insane in retrospect.
I'd really love to hear a detailed retrospective from Deffie someday, especially since it's been quite a long time since this level's release. I feel like Deffie and everybody who saw this level come to life have so much stories and lore to tell about it.
I just really dont like neodesign man
There are two levels by Deffie that I personally prefer over this one, but it by all means is as good as people say it is. Feels impossibly well executed, as if he had some sort of divine vision for a project and perfectly translated it into the game. The final result has essentially left no room for error.
I hate to say it, but WELL RESTED is my pick for most overrated level of all time
The level is over 7 minutes long and all of the least sightreadable parts are over 4 minutes in, making it extremely frustrating to play in normal mode.
There are many jumps that punish you for seemingly no reason - a lot of the timings in the second half are misleading.
My hottest take is the deco in this level isn’t that good, there are plenty of 2.1 modern levels that look way better than this imo.
While I like the song and I’m grateful for the NONG replacement, it is not interesting enough to make the 7 minutes worth it. I fall asleep playing or rewatching this level.
I would only recommend this if your goal is to beat all XL medium demons, otherwise avoid this like the plague, it’s not nearly as enjoyable as people say it is.
First played this long after it was released but my mind was still blown, despite being 7 minutes long it's engaging all the way through. The way the screen slowly compresses up until the drop and then expands messed with my brain in the best way possible.
