loco is a very good example of the importance of a concept and pacing when making levels. both deja vu and between worlds are among my favorites despite belonging to one of my least favorite gd styles, and both use custom made edits of their songs made by their producers, though in different ways. deja vu is probably just barely the better level, being one of those absolutely brilliant simple concepts no one can ever do again with how simple it is, but between worlds at least Feels more technical and insane, so many things in this level are just “how the fuck did you make it look that way??” the animations, the fake shaders synced so well, especially that oil slick thing in the last part, like what the fuck? how? and the way loco gives these things the space they need to really soak in, along with the concepts, make them go from a creator i probably wouldn’t even remember the name of to a very distinct voice, one of only a couple that really showed off the true capabilities of the 2.1 editor in its final couple months. given how 2.2 is going, i don’t have hope their next level is going to be anywhere near this good, but i will be glad if they have another couple brilliant ideas to share

Probably the most beautiful, emotionally evocative level I've ever experienced. To me, this level describes the rise and fall of civilizations and the inevitability of information being lost to time. I immensely love the progression in this level from nature, to towering cities, to burning ruins, and then finally to a decaying void plagued with black blotches and smears. Until even that gets erased and we're left with the player disassociating in complete darkness, completely lost to all time and space, never to be seen again.

This level reminds me a lot of my own mortality. The traces of my existence will eventually scatter into dust and ashes. My works, creations, will all eventually disappear. So will everyone else. So will everything else. I would say this isn't really a startling revelation, but the way this level conveyed it to me really made me stunned. It conveyed this much with all its sincere beauty and serenity, without a trace of bombastic spectacle or fearmongering.

This level also reminds me of a really emotional experience I had at the Royal Ontario Museum when looking at the artifacts and remnants of previous civilizations. Molded pottery sherds, silverware and tools cluttered the museum. Statues of religious idols and royalty sat next to ordinary people's clothing. Each item here represented a human life that once lived just like me, living, breathing, with happiness and sorrow, struggles and pleasures. Those memories and experiences, their only record exists within these aged objects. And in that moment, the level "Between Worlds" entered my memory, and xloco's beautiful soundtrack played in the back of my mind.

Perfecto.

No tengo palabras para esto, cerrar la 2.1 con esto fue lo mejor.
