Hey chat, I'm practicing for if I ever get confident enough to review a level...I noticed the "difficulty rating" slider , which slides from 1 to 100...
Its a little confusing bc...I don't know if the scaling is subjective or follows a set arc...I was thinking that it would be akin to the levels star rating (like how on osu a map can be rated something like... 2.34* instead of just 2*...just multiplied by like, 10. So you can state if a level is a hard 7* or something idk)
But i look at the reviews page and see that Extreme demons are around the 50 difficulty rating...
Looking back i do admit that my assumption was silly...but keep in mind that I am new to this site....Is there an agreed upon metric for calculating difficulty rating scores? Or is that something we should come up with on this post? I think having it be opinionated is inconsistent and would lead to some people who, from an outsider perspective, have highly absurd difficulty takes (thinking that an easy demon is as hard as other extreme demons because there isn't really an agreed upon value range for specific difficulties From what i know)
Sorry if I am yapping here! ^^
Here’s my totally arbitrary Difficulty Rating standard that I’ve been going with:
Auto 1 Star: 0
Easy 2 Stars: 1-10
Normal 3 Stars: 11-20
Hard 4/5 Stars: 21-30
Harder 6/7 Stars: 31-40
Insane 8/9 Stars: 41-50
Easy Demon: 51-60
Medium Demon: 61-70
Hard Demon: 71-80
Insane Demon: 81-90
Extreme Demon: 91-100
I agree it’s totally arbitrary and kind of meaningless compared to the other ratings.
Would be helpful to have some reference levels to gauge what is typically considered each difficulty range (similar to GDDL)
gg X attempts Beautiful
I put 0 if I don't like the difficulty and 100 if I like it
