Let's talk about: NDagger
Probably one of the most controversial platformer creators in the game due to their unique but frustrating gameplay style. This forum post will contain my thoughts on them and things worth discussing about.
Originally, this is meant to be an extra section in a review of one of NDagger levels. Unfortunately, that level isn't poorly received enough so I can make a review and discuss if it's really that bad. I had to silently remove it from the queue (I'm guilty, I have done this too many times). But I wanna be fair and talk about NDagger at some point, so I ended up with the idea of making this post.
My first encounter with NDagger is the level Move It, before this existence of this account. The amount of moving platformers in this is so overwhelming, but I thought it was interesting. Of course some would disagree, I could've reviewed it.
Now few months later, I stumbled across this video (Top 25 Best and Worst Platformer Demons Ranked - Geometry Dash), and saw how that the worse ranked level was one of NDagger's levels, which is Beatpulse. But these visuals were interesting, plus I have an interest in brutal EDM songs, so I thought of giving it a try... And it doesn't seem to be worthy as the worst demon at all, I actually enjoyed it. You can see that enthusiasm when I reviewed it. I probably went too far by making one of the most disliked comments in the level by mocking the players. But this led me to observe the creator more.
I had mixed experiences with their levels. I thought their minigames such as Closed Square and Vault addicting. Radioactive Reloaded and Catharsis didn't captivate me enough and isn't as enjoyable as Beatpulse due to missing what vibe Beatpulse had.
Okay, let's now talk about NDagger's reputation. The levels caused the playerbase to be divided into fans and haters. The latter would usually be louder and would express their hatred on those levels. The most common criticism players say about those is that there are too many flashes and camera movements. I am not too bothered by this, though I really understand them, some of them would hurt their head easily, plus it can ruin the gameplay experience in some cases. But on the bright side, there is maturity in how NDagger creates. Their details are very watchable, and their gameplay is so dynamic and unique that it sets apart from other platformer creators.
So what can I say about the things they have been receiving? I'm not going to force anyone to switch opinion and say that NDagger is one of the best platformer creators of all time, no. I'm all in for respecting each other's viewpoint whether their levels are good or bad. Still, friendly reminder to not make hurtful comments and just move on. Although roasts could have a pass since they're mostly just jokes. They're seemingly fine with their reputation anyways (as seen on one of their levels, Controversial Level, and their disliked profile post).
This is the end of the post. If you reached the end, thanks for reading. Feel free to put your thoughts about this.
