One of the reasons why I love RateYourMusic is its genre system. Not only can users vote for and against different genres, but new ones can also be added, which has led to a rich network of genres that makes it very easy to find new music. If you like an album and want to listen to something similar, you can just check its genres and hopefully find something else you like. I've always wanted a similar system for GD levels, as it'd make it very easy to find new levels to play. Right now, the best way to find similar levels is to locate a well-curated list, which is rare to come across; as well as that, you can't search for lists containing a specific level, like you can with albums and artists in RYM. This site already has a neat tagging system, but its options are very limited. What I'm requesting is a more robust system where users can submit new tags, which would allow for granular and robust categorizing. I realize that genre classifications can be a bit controversial, but there are already quite a few genres that are widely used among the community: Design, Effect, Neodesign and Russian Glow just to name a few. PAHC has actually made a detailed list of styles, which could be useful as a starting point.

seconding this absolutely !!!!!!!! id love to have a user submitted tag system (maybe definitions for the tags too) it would be really great for when the level database gets bigger + there’s a lot of genres/classifiers i want to add
