lmao wtf is this

kind of fascinating because in some ways it’s definitely better than rage quit, and in some ways it’s much worse. my biggest complaint with rage quit and some of the other levels of the era to now is the narrative is incredibly incoherent. what is happening in rage quit? guy gets mad at the game and breaks his tablet and then the fuckin matrix opens and then he comes back with 9 screens and destroys them and then the ship flies through a bunch of spaces… what? it just doesn’t click together at all. what’s happening in this level? the guys phone drains in the deadlocked bossfight and then plugs it in which the monsters use to break out of the level. it doesn’t really make sense either but things at least follow. on the other hand, for as deeply flawed of a level rage quit is, i won’t deny that it is pretty singular of a level. the idea of remaking it or pseudo-remaking it just kind of boggles the mind. this level is an absolutely excellent example of how literally stealing assets without credit is often not as bad as trying to do the same thing another level is trying to do. there’s a billion ways of using an asset but not very many of just, doing what something else did, but again. and rage quit is the kind of thing you just can’t do again. granted a lot of stolen assets which are more visible inherently include some element of ‘do it again’, but more for subtle ones you have to know the source and spot it. in art, this isn’t a problem, because art isn’t a competition, but the main flaw of the rating system is that it gives incentive, making it one. “this level is somehow rated but this better level isn’t”, “this feature rated level is better than most of the mythics”, etc.

honestly though this is so decadently stupid i can’t in earnest give it my ‘this makes me mad’ rating of 2/10. it is such an awful idea that it’s like a practical joke. we have enough brainrot in the community, but it’s funny in a brainrot way, in a ‘why the fuck would you ever do that’ way. but that doesn’t dig it out of the trenches of the low ratings for sure. i cannot imagine what this is going to look like in 5 or 10 years

definitely my pick for the worst in quality rated level coz what the fuck. i may rate a handful of other rated levels lower than this for having Disagreeable Vibes to me but in terms of execution this level has literally one thing going for it and its that the first part is kinda cool. classic

random rated level #3

subpar copypaste 1.9 design level. style can be charming but this has pretty much nothing unique going for it (unless you count the epic face and illuminati symbol at the end.) pretty much ferris02 tier

a good reminder for newer players that 1.9 had bad boring levels too! a lot of them actually!
