Formerly the longest extreme demon in the game, and by far one of the most memorable for me. The atmosphere in this is truly one of a kind, an endless gauntlet of unrelenting gameplay, hand crafted by over 50 top players. More than anything, this level is a test of endurance, forcing you to keep your cool for over 8 minutes, lest you have to go back and do it again. I couldn't possibly imagine a version of Sinister Silence that doesn't use every second of the song.
This got a criminally low placement in the contest. It was still high enough to get a mythic rating, but not even top 5? Criminal.
This level is the GD implementation of the term "Larger than Life". It excels at making you feel small, but not too much where you can't revel in the wonders of the level.
NEW XXUSER DROP!!
I believe I've stated before that xxuser is one of my favorite creators of all time, and the most recent addition to his portfolio does not disappoint in the slightest. Every single element of this level feels extremely alive, and every single piece of deco feels like it absolutely needs to be there, lest the level fall apart (this is a good thing). Additionally, the structuring is top tier.
Not enough green though
300TH REVIEW!!
DON is, to put it simply, over an hour of brutal needle gameplay with zero cohesion between parts. While this may be a turn-off for some people, for me this is hands down the most captivating and interesting level I've ever seen. Despite the runtime, this managed to keep me engaged throughout the entire experience - there's just something so exciting about not knowing what's about to come next. When was the last time you had to do Sudoku in the middle of a level? or play Fortnite? that's what I thought.
Say what you will about the deco and the gameplay, but there's one thing that's clear as day - There will probably never be another level quite like DON.
There are no words to describe how well made this level is. go play it.
Genuinely one of my favorite extremes in the entire game. The deco, gameplay, and song rep are unlike anything else I've seen in the game.
It's not very often that you see a level about fishing that turns out to actually be about cosmic horror. This level is probably cw's best showing of his storytelling talent - He takes an idea that seems silly and makes it work tremendously well.
The Place
Some of the best song representation I've ever seen in a level. I occasionally say that it seems as if songs were made for specific levels, but this goes doubly for this level - every single noise in the song is represented in some way.
