I'm definitely a Mercury6779 glazer, I'll admit, but That won't stop me from reviewing a level I appreciate. While the more minimalist deco isn't my cup of tea, the effects manage to carry the intensity of the level greatly, serving well as a highlight of the level.
This level is a hidden gem of a hard demon. While its nine minute runtime is nothing short of terrifying, Downfall is able to match the dong's vibe during every second, almost as if they were made in tandem. This is how I imagine a modern travel level to be.
My main gripe about the level is that it falls off hard in the last third. the gameplay is reduced to a barebones orb chain, and the only deco is in the form of a background that isn't always there. Despite this, the rest of the level is high enough in quality to make up for this fact.
I can't bring myself to hate this. I know it's cringe, but I can't help but really like this level. It's hard for me to put it into proper words, but I think the main draw is the references hidden in every single part. It really shows the dedication and love put into the level.
While it isn't the best level ever, Andromeda is still great overall. I understand that some people may not be a fan of it, but the threatening atmosphere paired with the mile a minute gameplay makes this one of my favorite levels in the main list.
Scorch's artstyle is one of a kind. even after 5 years, Magma Bound still holds up in visuals just because it's an art piece straight from the creator's hand. The gameplay is fairly spammy, which is probably my only complaint.
Do not look up Grimeware.
I love experimental levels like this. Out of This World sports a unique, hostile atmosphere that is greatly exemplified by its song. Personally, the gameplay isn't my favorite thing ever, but it works well for what the level is trying to do.
This was an excellent top 1 during its reign. in stark contrast to the frequent hell demons that top the classic list, this is a gloomy journey in the deepest parts of the ocean, with a supernatural air and a confusing story that I still can't quite understand the meaning of.
This took me much longer to beat than I'd like to admit
I love Lp44's style, and this is no exception. the gameplay is fairly unique as well, which is impressive for a 5 star.
