viot's gameplay is obviously super fun and inventive and a huge part of the worldbuilding here (upward gameplay my beloved) but oh my god this level is visually so stunning. suuuuper creative use of quite a few really neglected objects and the color choices are spectacular!!!!!! became an instant favorite the first time i played it and it Still is
pure anxiety in the form of unrelenting visual assault. you can very nearly physically feel the textures scratch your eyes, not with some violent fury but instead steadily, rhythmically, and god does it dig deep
this level sort of singlehandedly made treefingers one of my favorite songs on kid a. it's crazy to think that a level can actually open up the song it uses for me and get me to really appreciate something that i probably wouldn't otherwise. very special power. i obviously attribute this to how well this represents its song, ambient is not really something that lends itself well to geometry dash levels but this level itself is undoubtedly an ambient piece. really innovative and should be talked about more
one of their most ambitious, really earns its grandness. the freeform stream-of-consciousness-esque creating style surprisingly suits the ambient parts of the song really well, which are separated by the more concrete and traditionally pretty sections. the harsher freeform designs are the real highlight here though, there's a lot of cool texture play to note, such as the overlapping outline blocks and how much it more it makes the glow effect on solids stand out. then there's the ending, combining both of these philosophies for one of the most visceral and affecting conclusions to any level ever. an instant favorite
i hold this one very close to my heart. this was the catalyst to me burying myself in the experimental creating scene that informed both my gd creating and my taste in art generally. i must've spent most of the past few years trying to recreate the magic in this level, but i know i'll never come close, nor will anyone else i fear. generational work, even if it's not my favorite twig and cabaret level it's definitely the one i have the strongest personal attachment to
beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!! this level does so much with such a tiny selection of objects, even if it's a little amateurish compared to presta's other work it's just as good at putting together a mood
first and last level to really take advantage of color banding. nothing else that tries to use the effect as a core design element even comes close
really takes its time to unfold the right way, something very few levels are brave enough to do. gorgeously composed for the first two thirds and the last part’s change in style would be jarring anywhere else but the way it works with the song here feels incredibly intentional. beautiful work, one of the only gd levels to make me cry
far and away the best themed level in the game. everything is so meticulously designed and it really, Really does look like it’s rotting, the amount of love and care required to make the level look as gross as it does is unthinkable. such a treat to look at in the editor too
