I don’t know how to explain it but you must hate Christmas to possibly dislike this, the pointlessness of it all is what gives it spirit
I dont like the jittery bg pulses and how the level is stuck to the ground the entire way through, theres a good lacking bit of intensity, but these designs are too good for much left to complain about. There’s no excuse to end the level this early on in its song though, it’s most certainly scrapped on base of a whim
Tickle is such a lolcow, for better or for worse, but regardless of what anyone may say I do genuinely respect his efforts to keep up this obnoxiously confrontational attitude in his art. This level is wonderful because it highlights everything about tickle as a person in such a subtle manner, none of it seems too peculiar until you’re familiar the creator behind it, compared to his other work the lack of random ocs and bleeding colors make it not nearly as eye-gouging to look at. Probably will stay my favourite work from him, even if my liking of it is completely ironic
I’ve always been a fan of yakob’s christmas themed collabs, despite their lack of cohesion and noticeable quality differences between parts there’s something about their cozy winter spirit that fascinates me with them. I was pleasantly surprised to hear I was invited to make a part for the next project in the series, seeing a lot of familiar faces and another great crumbs song being put to use assured me I was gonna have a blast working on it, and to no surprise I did! It’s save to say I have a lot of biases working in the level’s favour, just the memories alone make me happy of its existence, but this doesn’t make me blind to its larger issues. More so than its prequel, the level puts emphasis on its messy mixture of modernised art and more traditional designs, with some parts showing no trace of the latter anymore. In a positive light, this series stands out for its wide diversity of styles, almost celebratory to its creators and their unique character. On the contrary however, a lot of this character is lost to some of the saver, downplayed ideas that come with these art-oriented parts, resulting in the level looking uncertain about its direction. As much of life this project brought to my holiday, I’m far from calling this a perfect result. But regardless of anything, my own experiences have an indisputable worth and I’m glad I got to close my year sharing part of my joy with the rest of the community
Unintentionally really funny, the concept being as bizarre as it is makes it a pretty valid remake in my eyes. The end does drop in quality a little but the charm is still there
Never understood the appeal of this one. Despite some fairly interesting gameplay gimmicks thrown into the mix, the overall essence of the level lacks the kind of idiosyncratic quality I expect to see from a quid level. The designs are bland in a way that looks almost indistinguishable from para's lazier glow builds, with its only remaining character being a rehash of tropes that make an appearance in most of quids other work. Gameplay aside, no part truly stands out from one other, and the long, dragged out progression never feels like it builds up to anything greater. Still, it's a polished level all around, but that doesnt make it any less of a sleeper
Thematically this level doesn’t have a whole lot going on for it, the series has always struck me as stagnant with not much rhyme or reason to its sequels, and while there is not a whole lot setting anathema apart I find myself intrigued by its heavy punk undertone. The quality between parts vary quite a bit, with some having a much more consistent look than others, but I can partly accept the loose designs for their chaotic and intense feel. Admittedly it took me a bit to grow a liking of this level, but in the end I believe to see a vision, and although it still follows all the tropes of megacollabs that irk my soul I can somewhere resonate with the project
The second part and ending are really strong, everything else is kind of too bland for my liking
