Absolutely stunning visuals and music representation and I can’t understate it enough, it’s unfortunate there’s not a whole lot more going for this level. Djudjeito has an incredible way of working with colors and this might be his most evident example yet, all the designs sparkle bright in spite of the consistently gloomy tone and the rough textures add to the unsettling vibes in just the right way. The technical ability one must have to make art of this quality in this large amount is genuinely impressive and it’s really cool to see all the effort paying off some way. It’s just a shame the gameplay felt like a complete afterthought, none of it adds anything of value to the level and it makes an otherwise fascinating trip kind of boring to sit through. Still a great experience all around, I just think it easily could’ve been much better.
The birth and trendsetter of a building thesis that has brought the community forward once again in a time of despair, the overwhelming amount of flaws this level holds do not distract from its significant creative vision and the technical advancements following its creation. The level is characterized by its overwhelmingly difficult drop in contrast to the parts preceding it, it takes shape as some kind of examination chamber with oddly repetitive gameplay to fully put your endurance and input control to test. Theres a good bit of jank present in both the visuals and general layout, especially with the release of 2.2 the gameplay had to be butchered by it. But with the existence of an2echamber fixing most these issues, and the original work having made such a strong identity for itself, it can continue to shine as bright as it ever did
Incredibly dull reimagination of quid's style and really has no reason to exist other than to try and show off, at least it looks fairly polished
Certainly not serponge's brightest work, I dont particularly have strong feelings against it but the sheer quantity of things it does wrong really brings it down. The song is atrocious, not gonna say much more about it other than that it bleeds my ears, the gameplay is also an absolute disaster and it doesnt help it got an almost 20 second long cutscene right before a huge difficulty spike. Visually there are a few interesting ideas here and there but it's mostly held back by the muddy looking textures and some really annoying camera effects, the drop is easily the worst offender as it has little to no redeemable aspects to it and feels about as nauseating as the song does. I do respect the consistent theme the level has, and some of the gimmicks are admittedly kinda interesting, but it all felt like a waste of potential to me.
Beautiful satirical piece that cant really be fully appreciated without understanding the context surrounding it, from start to finish the groundwork of the level is tasteless and embarassing and in a way it symbolizes the space gauntlet contest perfectly. The level released right after the results came in, which makes the chance of it not having any ties to the contest pretty much implausible, not to forget the entire theme matching a majority of submissions to their very core. The climax is obviously the main selling point of this level, the dramatic buildup leading to its quick and humorous ending is something pretty much everyone got a laugh out of. It becomes pretty clear how the narrative of the level might imply how much of a catastrophe the space gauntlet results were to everyone, for all the hype the contest built up there was basically unanimous disappointment for the way things ended up going. But what makes this level as funny as it is is how Mindcap doesnt elaborate on any of his intentions behind the hosting of it, there really is no telling whether this level was meant to be anything more than another meaningless joke level despite all the odds suggesting it had to have been an intentional jab at something. The lingering thought of whether the countless of hours put into this project were either completely wasted or instead went towards a brilliant sentiment is something that cant be evoked through any other level, and the wonder it leaves me with warrants my applause.
Pretty respectable attempt at making something in the spirit of yume nikki, sadly a lot of the ideas just feel forced in without much afterthought and it becomes rather difficult to take this level serious at times. The level has good vibes, I just wish more was done with it
Patience is a virtue, this level is a testament those who can respect its artistic merits and I just so happen to be obsessed with it. Overall pahc summarized the takeaway of this level perfectly, it's so grossly honest with itself that you can't help but empathize with the creator behind it as someone dear.
The rowdy visuals here are presented as that of an amateur creator, the color mixing is peculiar and some designs seem to messily overlap or just look disjointed overall. But don’t judge a book by it’s cover, the elated atmosphere and carefree designs complement the cheery essence of the layout perfectly, it’s almost child-like in its appearance and it truly nails that vibe. It also needs to be said how cleverly the progression is done, needing no real transitions to make parts that are still very separable from each other, it’s quite like the ethereal charm of bob ratchet levels suddenly turning into open world
