I remember praising this level back when it was just early previews and i do not regret a thing i said. This is the sort of level we really need right now, one thats self aware but not self deprecating; original and impressive but not show offy; meaningful yet restrained, not heavy handed; one that is concerned both with gameplay, visuals and most importantly being a great combination of the two, which feels so striking after seeing The Amethyst. Its consistently winning, with the wonderful theme of passing seasons, incredible reincorporation of a main level and fantastic structuring. The only real complaint i have is that the song feels a little flaccid for an ambient techno track, sadly its really hard to find one that would work on newgrounds of all places.
This level almost feels like a tease towards Rek3dge and DeCode. It outpaces Reks level both in brutal difficulty for the time this was made in but also structuring, gameplay structuring and design. I might write a more comprehensive review in the future comparing and analyzing both the levels but suffice it to say this is brilliant and Kris in 1.9 wasnt just showing off levels which were densely packed with ideas while still being really pretty. He was making stuff that was super cohesive and outpacing some of the best creators at the time and was not afraid to show that off.
Perhaps his best level. Absolutely brilliant design and structuring.
