beethoven meganeko remix bro song of the century
this level def feels like a theatre play, with all the different acts and the mode that allows you to bring the stage to life. it's just that these acts don't really feel like they come together cohesively at all. they do look VERY pretty standalone though, i def like this more than some of blis later work. this would be a 6 for me but holy jump indicators bro
i usually love negative space being used in levels, and while the predrop does it well, the drop falters. it fails to distinguish itself from the predrop in style apart from speed and a bit of color. looking at something like lumina-a level which takes heavy inspiration from congregation-i find myself loving that one far more because of how the drop contrasts the predrop. while pretty everything in the predrop and ending are amazing, and even the fall in transition into the drop is good too, the drop itself is so lacking and anti-climactic that it sours my whole opinion of the level. which is a shame
def not one of my coldest takes, but i like this level a lot. the most notable thing about this level (apart from how easy it is for a demon) is how it uses mirror portals as decoration. it really gives the level a messier feeling, as if you're traversing an environment struck by a storm. the drop has really solid song representation to me (especially with the bass), and i see this part as walking on a road. the flashing colors def helps ties all this together for me as well. its a weird one, but i do genuinely like this level a lot ignoring some gp flaws
obviously known for the dumbass first wave, but i do think there is some merit for this hilariously lopsided balancing. the first wave is dark, gloomy, slow, and more than anything incredibly claustrophobic, leaving you with virtually zero breathing room. i think the varied click pattern adds to this naturally claustrophobic feel, like you're trying to navigate an environment that's not meant to be passed. which makes it all the more satisfying yet nerve-wracking when you finally do pass it and are greeted with a saturated, relatively fast paced and open last 75%. its a feeling I've yet to see in another gd level, there really is nothing like it. all that being said, you might notice I only gave it a 6, and thats because of the ABSURD amount of glow in the last 75%. which is really not the type of deco I like unfortunately, and it kinda takes me out of it :( still tho, this level is solid, and has grown on me a lot!
a solid 1.9 megacollab, ignoring some inconsistencies and flaws with cohesion. the gameplay feels satisfying to pull off-even if dealing with michiguns part is a bit of a pain-and parts like crack, etzer and gboy are absolutely iconic. the main issue with this level however comes from the colors. they feel dull and don't really strike like my favorite red levels do, it fails to capture any vibe beyond intimidation. still a decent level though
to be perfectly honest, i have never liked insxne's levels. ive always felt like theyve tried chasing an aestethic, but just fail to make me feel anything, and at first this level was no different to me. when i saw taiago was verifying it, i lowkey kinda just rolled my eyes and moved on. but this level has grown on me a lot, mostly due to its structuring. throughout each part, this level manages to keep a consistent and fresh style of structuring, and as each part changes, it transitions from one style to another incredibly smoothly. this is super hard to pull off, but the way this level does it is a prime example of how to do it, apart from some unnecessary movements in the level that make the level feel far less "spacey". granted though, the level already doesnt feel very "spacey" because of how clausterphobic and hard the level is, but maybe that isnt such a good thing for the level either. im undecided. its not that big of an issue though. the song is decent, kinda middle of the road modern day atmospheric dnb but it works with the theme of the level well enough. overall, a nice space themed level that i like a decent amount!
a solid, clean modern level, making really solid use of shapes to make a simple but engaging enough entry extreme. its obviously a fun one too, considering how common of a first extreme this one is. just beware of the ending! acu is not a level that absolutely blows me away, but it really doesnt have to. its just a fun and cute level that i enjoy :)
