I think a lot of people are missing the point of this level. It is an experiment. A test if you will. The level just consists of a bunch of ideas that the creator wanted to make and I don't think there's really anything beyond that. However, I thought a lot of these experiments were somewhat interesting. Like I had never wondered before what it would look like to have a bunch of start pos objects rotated in a circle like that. It makes a rather interesting shape. Or how every visible object on screen shrinks when you jump for the key as the robot revealing a colorful background. Or having a glowing block complete a circuit that turns the background color to yellow.
If you look at this level and don't find something interesting, I think you are lying to yourself. Something should be able to tickle your brain and make you go, "huh, that's cool", even if that reaction is only mild. If that's not something you value when experiencing GD levels, oh well.
I think this level's main strength is how it pushes back against the most common tropes of top extreme demons. It was made by a single person, it is quite long, the color palette is bright, the song is fun, the gameplay is well-paced, and it doesn't look like a lifeless blob. Most of those qualities fall a bit flat when taken out of the context it exists in, but I can still appreciate it regardless. My biggest complaint is how overdecorated it is.
Im kind of shocked the average is so low. It's prolly because it's popular now that I think about it. Anyway, I think this level is cool. There's a very nice theme with an eye attacking your eyes while you're trying to play the level. The gameplay is lacking a bit but I think it's mostly excusable due to the intense visuals.
I think it's kinda sad that this level is getting praised so much for its gameplay because in reality, I don't find it much different from most modern easy demons. It is littered with jump indicators and doesn't do anything to innovate at all. I will say that it looks quite good tho.
My theory is that people think levels with this deco style that are fast and sightreadable have good gameplay while that really isn't the case. The gameplay is fine, but it doesn't do anything too special.
I read a review for this level before playing it and I was still slightly surprised by its absurdity.
The highlight for me is the last robot. It just seems so tense and nerve-wracking. Otherwise, the level is pretty cool but I would prefer if I could actually see in many of the beginning parts.
The song is obviously the highlight here. I think EVW, Colon, and Samme fit pretty well and bring some silly energy to the track. Boomkitty really doesn't fit since he's not exactly a GD figure. I think it would've been fine if he just produced the song, but I think he's giving himself a bit too much attention since the level is supposed to celebrate GD content creation. I think that extends to the level itself as well with the whole boomkitty wanted part.
The gameplay is serviceable and the deco fits the style of the song. There's really not much to say otherwise.
