void wave has a bit of a reputation, the same reputation you'd give to a patient zero of a virus. except, instead of spreading disease, it spread flow gameplay and sleek glow design. arguably worse than influenza. while i do believe that its a 'prototype' of the gameplay and decoration style that defines modern geometry dash megacollabs, i also think that void wave does some things significantly better than any of its successors. primarily, void wave actually still feels impressive when watching it. theres a lot to be said about how this 5 year old level still gets me drooling when most design extreme demons of today start feeling outdated the moment they release. none of its ridiculously overblown in the detail department, instead focusing on a bunch of unique ideas. the overblown glow and colors dont just serve as surface level awe factor, but are executed in a way that make them believably a part of the levels identity. its not shiny, its radiant. the pacing excels even further; each part locking in with one anothers energy smoothly in a way that preserves the momentum throughout the entire five minutes. the result? a cherry team level that feels like a proper journey. every other design level should be embarrassed for trying to hijack attention by making every pixel of the level move and flash when void wave already solved the formula.
ps; that endscreen rocks by the way. perfect conclusion the levels vibe.
