I vividly remember coming across a showcase of "Get your Wish" on my YouTube homepage back before it was even rated. The level left a slight impression in me, so I decided to play it a bit myself, but I wasn't that interested it it whatsoever so I soon forgot about it and carried on.

One year later, Porter Robinson is one of my favourite musicians out there, and YouTube recommends me a video of this level once again, reminding me of its existence by pure chance. So now, I've got a new level that I consider to be one of my favourites, and a new favourite song from the "Nurture" album.

I like to view "Get your Wish" as a love letter to Porter Robinson and "Nurture". The level is very strongly themed, and that might be its strongest point, with numerous references to its song, omonymous to the level itself, and the album. Some of them are very obvious, such as the visuals and effects made to resemble the song's official music video, as well as the endscreen, which looks like the cover artworks of the individual tracks in "Nurture". Other references are very subtle and very specific - for example, the black rounded borders around the level seem to be a callback to the music video of "Look at the sky", another song from the album.

Besides all those references, the level has a lot of original visuals, which are also incredibly pleasant to look at despite their simplicity. Magpipe did an insanely good job at always keeping it fresh despite re-using the same visuals a lot, including the cloud background which is pretty much present the whole time. The drop's effects are incredibly well done, my only complaint being that they occasionally harm the level's sightreadability. The pre-drop and outro's decoration seems a bit basic, albeit functional and incredibly atmospheric, at first glance, until you start digging deeper and notice the attention to detail. In the beginning part, for instance, the brick textures next to the glowy spikes have a bit of an orange accent to them, making them appear lit up by the spikes; Another detail that I love is that when the cube steps on water, a little splash appears, which is perfectly synced up with the metronome that Porter has used as percussion in his song.

Of course, as expected from a level made with its soundtrack in mind, the music representation is near-perfect. The gameplay flows nicely and is synced to the song pretty well. The pre-drop and outro manage to feature intriguing gameplay despite their simple structuring that's pretty much bound to the bottom of the level. The drop is more open and airy and features custom portals that change the gravity's strength, and while it still flows well, it also feels a bit inconsistent to play and suffers fro msightreadability issues. It's fairly easy to get used to by practicing the level, but may be a bit frustrating to deal with.

Overall, "Get your Wish" by magpipe is a great level, which does a great job at conveying the creator's love towards a piece of media, and a very enjoyable experience despite its downsides.

Even before the NCS Gauntlet was released and the contest winners announced, I've found this level to be one of the most intriguing and one of my favourite entries to be ever made for the gauntlet. At the time, I played on a low-end phone, so I wasn't able to experience the level myself, but all the showcases on YouTube were enough to get me hooked. I finally managed to beat it after transitioning to PC several weeks ago.

The visual style might be Next Cab Soon's strongest aspect, and part of the reason why I like it so much is that it's very distinct from all the other contest entries and, in general, levels that became popular in the community - while all those (including Arclia's other Mythic-rated level Astralith) strive for a realistic style, Next Cab Soon takes a completely different turn and instead features a very unique cartoon-esque style. Of course, being a megacollab, there's quite a lot of inconsistencies between all the different creators' parts, but it still feels very well put together, and it's very clear that all the creators involved worked very closely at the team, as hinted by the fact that there isn't a single visually unappealing transition in the level. I also like the fact that, despite looking fairly simple at first glance, this level has a ton of small details that give it further charm; if you were to list every single tiny detail and inside joke in the level, it would quite literally take an eternity.

The gameplay is OK, nothing special, but that doesn't take away much from the overall charm of the level due to how much weight the decoration bears. It just plays like the average Easy Demon you'd see in the Featured page or as a Weekly Demon, and while it does feel awkward at times, being an Easy Demon certainly makes it less of an issue. The only times the level would feel unreadable are during some of the transitions, but otherwise, the decoration style allows for the gameplay to be perfectly comprehensible regardless of the amount of detail the level has - which can't be said for some of the more realistic-styled levels out there.

And of course, the coin - you can't just talk about this level without giving the coin a shoutout - is an absolute masterpiece, at least from a technical standpoint. The alternate routes are sometimes hard to notice, since there's no visual indication for them whatsoever, which is also why I haven't got it. Another issue is that you can simply get the coin for free no matter what if you simply watch the cutscene at the end, which might have been due to a technical limitation, but I think I recall GD Colon mentioning that it was completely intentional after reaching out to the creators of this level. The fact that they've managed to pull off a meta-coin of such scale is still fascinating though, and it's certainly secured its position as one of the greatest user coins the game has ever seen.

Overall, Next Cab Soon deserves a solid 9/10 rate from me (it's not like my opinion is important or anything), it's a very charming level with a lot of love put into it, and the good aspects of it certainly outweigh all of its downsides.

I vividly remember playing this level as one of my first dailies in GD World, and how it instantly got me hooked on the very first play.

The visuals are nothing groundbreaking, really, but they're incredibly effective at conveying the theme and being visually appealing. The details are very well-balanced and I particularly love how Dassfy managed to make the level not look too plain despite most of the structures being in a plain colour. I also absolutely adore the bits of art scattered across the level and the small details that just make the visuals work, such as the wavy pulses in the level's top and bottom borders at the drop. The transitions just work, and they're actually pretty well-executed too. The colours are incredibly well-done, and it seems that there's been a lot of effort put into picking and fine-tuning them, as hinted by the fact that there's a colour palette template in the beginning of each section in the level editor.

The gameplay is decent, but nothing special, as expected in a 5-star. It flows pretty decently though, and the player movements feel very connected with the music at times - especially in the cube section in the beginning, which feels very bouncy, just like the song. What did stand out to me, however, is the first coin. It's so clever and makes use of what could've potentially been a skip, and encourages the player to experiment. The 2nd coin is OK and the 3rd coin in the ending cube section is easier than the main route, so I'm not particularly a fan of it. It also seems that the auto ship part before that cube used to be a wave section, and I don't know why Dassfy nerfed it in such a weird way, but that's up to him, I guess.

The song choice is absolute peak, and this level is single-handedly responsible for making me a Cloudfield fan, so I'm thankful for that.

Overall great level, not the most mind-blowing thing out there, but it's pretty nostalgic to me so this opinion might be biased :P
