I have a lot to say about this level and since I've actually beaten it, I think I'll give a better insight on the quality and experience of playing the level.
First and foremost, the gameplay.
I've seen a lot of people rag on the gameplay but personally I never had too much of a problem with it? The only part that genuinely frustrated me, outside of me being bad and dying at 44% around 11 times, was Michiguns part which is pretty damn obvious as to why. To put it simply, the superbuffed and extended version of Bloodbath, Bloodlust, literally nerfs this part because it's that frustratingly difficult compared to the rest of the level. It doesn't help that this is 30 seconds / 25% into the level so dying here is just a major time waste.
Besides that though? The gameplay is pretty fun and somewhat well balanced. There are some inconsistencies like the first ball click of Asonics part (61), the first UFO of Etzers part (71 to 75), Havoks ball (80 to 83) and Girons dual cube (91 to 92) but with enough practice these parts will at most kill you one or two times. I personally died to Asonics ball once, Etzers UFO 3 times, Havoks ball once and Girons dual cube once but these are really only nerve tests and not unbalanced chokepoints as they are very consistent in most runs.
As for balancing, I think it's just best if I rank them by their difficulty in terms of the minimum demon ranking I could see their parts being a part of:
Michigun (List demon)
Crack (Extreme demon)
Etzer (Extreme demon)
WeoWeoTeo (Extreme demon)
Vermillion (List insane demon)
Giron (Insane demon)
Ggb0y (Insane demon)
Evasium (Insane demon)
Havok (Hard hard demon)
Asonic (Hard demon)
Riot (Hard demon)
Obviously this is subjective but besides Michiguns part and Asonics part being outliers, the level is relatively well balanced in my opinion. There are obviously parts harder than others but that's inevitable with literally any level. It's definitely not amazing balancing but I think the issues with balancing are a bit overblown.
As for enjoyment, the level can be a bit of slog to play at times. I personally suggest practicing the second half (Crack to 100) for a good chunk of your playtime with the level. I also recommend practicing from Michigun quite a bit. But any sufficiently difficult level will have the slog era where it's just boring or frustrating to play. Bloodbath, luckily, doesn't stay in those slog era's for very long so I found it mostly enjoyable to play.
Visually, the level looks extremely good, especially for 1.9 standards. It's extremely well crafted and every part flows into the other very well. It's quite cohesive and there aren't any really visually "bad" parts in the level. There are some visual errors here and there but it's more charming and isn't very distracting. I personally really like the way this level looks as a lot of levels nowadays are just kind of a lot visually. It's nice to have something that looks nice while not being overstimulating.
And so overall I think the level is great. From the gameplay to the decoration and atmosphere, I think it does what it does really well and even if it's not perfect, it's still a very good and enjoyable experience. I'd definitely recommend for a new hardest or a jump. 8.5/10
I love this level. Maybe I'm biased as it's my first insane demon but I loved everything about this level. There are some things here that annoyed me, like the mini cube at 60-ish percent and this one tiny little spike that pokes a single pixel out of the ground at around 74(?) but otherwise I found this level very enjoyable. To really emphasize how much I liked it, I played this level when I had to be away from home for nearly a week on a shitty 60 fps laptop that could barely run the level and still had fun. The visuals are also incredible and it's disappointing I don't see more levels like this as they are extremely fun and expressive. The song was also great and kept me going after I had spent around 8k attempts. Amazing level. Would've given it a 9.5/10 if I could give decimal ratings but I will easily round it up to a 10/10.
I will give this level a 1 in decoration for being the first of its kind but god this level is so over loved. It's fine in terms of gameplay but the absolutely eye searing wave kills any enjoyment I could have with this level. I play VR daily, meaning I have blue light being blasted directly into my eyes for 2 to 3 hours a day and this level still managed to give me eye strain after I hadn't gotten it for almost 5 years at that point. As much as I appreciate the impact of this level, I can't overstate how much I didn't enjoy this. Doesn't help that I died to the ending multiple times because it's stupid inconsistent.
Definitely on the easier side of hard demons with a difficulty relatively the same as Nine Circles. I think this level is great overall, with a very... interesting theme and some gimmicky but well executed gameplay. In some parts it is definitely jank and can be very annoying but most of it is pretty fun. The decoration isn't certainly something super special but it does work extremely well with the vibe of the level and I think I prefer it this way. I'm not sure how to explain it but with the weird song and gameplay and the stylized but basic decoration, it really feels like the stereotypical white woman that tries to be quirky and unique but comes off as basic. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I don't care this level is very good
An incredibly well constructed level from it's era. While it's not my favorite level in the game, it is practically objectively a good level. My only slight problem with it is the gameplay, which feels lacking in some parts and can be a bit frustrating from time to time like the inverted slopes in the first(?) wave and some very janky gameplay in certain parts. The visuals, however, absolutely take this from a 6 - 7 out of 10 to an 8.5 out of 10 for me. The theming is incredible and doesn't come off as edgy or like it's trying to hard to be cool. It's art is incredible for the time and still holds to this day, albeit its age does show in some parts.
I definitely think it's closer to an easy medium demon rather than an easy demon but that's mostly because it's just quite long and takes quite a bit of time to complete even if its gameplay isn't very difficult.
