probably the only level that uses the "it doesnt feel like gd" term and perfects it. the gd is a game engine joke peaked here. i dont really mind the fact that it borrows a lot from YHTWTG because at least it tries very cool ideas and brings new stuff to the table (unlike a certain unblock master). not only an incredible level but also a mind blowing technical achievement considering it was so early into 2.2
Great minigame, easily one of my favorites. Going around and exploring the map feels so much fun, especially when you’re going back to previous areas with the new abilities you unlocked throughout the level. Those abilities themselves are super fun to mess around with and are all very useful. The low point here is definitely the bossfight, which are pretty much the same but with variation to get you used to the new abilities but I wish they were a bit more interesting. I still had an amazing time experiencing this though. Also, I forgot to mention the artstyle which is fantastic. Easily is the best pixel style level in the game. Every pieces come together to make a cohesive world and it looks beautiful.
Yeah, one of my favorites platformers for sure
Easy contender for one of the best minigames in GD. Very intuitive controls, appealing pixel art, and a metroidvania game progression that benefits so much from Zejoant's spark. He may be the best in Geometry Dash at "show, don't tell" progression when it comes to minigames.
I really only have two issues with this. The first one being that I wish the bosses were expanded upon. The monster bosses feel monotonous, and while the final boss is cool, I feel like it could have benefitted from some extra visual fanfare. On that point, it would have been nice to see more NPCs and details across the map.
The second issue I have is the plagiarism. Now, unlike what some reviewers here say, the level is not a 1-1 recreation. The only truly copied assets were the checkpoints, and the layouts of the first couple rooms. You could maybe say the gameplay mechanics were as well, but that feels like a stretch to me. Everything else, probably 85% of the level, is completely original. I do wish that there was 0 plagiarism though. Zejoant could have easily switched out the layouts and checkpoints for something else. It's not anything malicious enough for me to sound the alarms, but it is a bit disappointing.
very telling that the level's weakest moments (the bossfights, for instance) are the ones it didn't copy from an existing indie game just obscure enough to not get recognized by most of the players
For the record, I rate minigame levels as if they were a separate game from geometry dash, since they clearly aren't interested in being geometry dash levels. It doesn't matter to me how "impressive" it is that something was made in the gd engine, all I care about is the final product. With that out of the way, the final product is unfun and boring, with visuals that leave a lot to be desired. Also, if you want all 3 coins, you had better be using a guide from the start, or else you could be spending an hour just running around, combing over every possible spot that you could have missed a coin, just to find that single one that you missed somewhere. Totally not speaking from experience there. Also, the bossfights are just really not fun imo, especially the final one. I hate bosses that just arbitrarily can't be hit for the majority of their screen presence. I don't care if you make it insanely hard to attack them during certain attacks, but for the love of god, at least let me feel like I can do something. All in all, I've played leagues better short metroidvanias (not that this really counts as one) on coolmath games.
Solo jugué un metroidvania en mi vida, VVVVVV, Juego el cual amo.
Este nivel tiene inspiración en ese juego y eso hace q me encante.
