I haven't beaten it yet so for now I will put my thoughts from practice mode and countless YouTube watches and update this review once I beat it
Being honest, the song representation is like one of the best that i see, but i don't know, the gameplay is very frustrating in some parts, is very unbalance and is like the not good part of the level, the wave part is like the hardest part, is very cool but personally this is not my favorite level of 2.2, one of the best obviously, but not the best one
The sync is incredibly cool, and very creative, the deco sync is the best one and the final part is for me, a good one, most of the people like the final part but for me the "Go. To. Sleep" is gorgeous and the best part
8/10 simply epic and if the song wasn't nong, this would be a mythic one
i ADORE the song commatose as easily one of my favourites from glass beach, and this level uses it incredibly well. i cannot really judge the gameplay aside from it being slightly learnier and much longer than most levels around its difficulty, but its a great representation of the song's mood in how it plays. the visuals are nothing spectacular and have clear inspiration from cometface, but work super well with the song. overall, the level does rely fairly heavily on it's song, but that doesn't make it any less of a spectacle in XL demons.
fascinated by the conflict between
a) "I want my level to be as spectacular and entertaining as possible, so I'm going to take advantage of length, intensity, color theory, dynamics, and other common design principles to appeal to the greatest quantity of players"
b) "I want my level to be an insane-extreme demon, such that the intended experience is only actually available to <0.01% of players"
and that's my ted talk as to why all the powerhouse creators seem to avoid making extreme demons
Youngdefiant, aka the king of gaming, the king of YouTube, the realest gamer on the internet, the 100% fact spitter, the higher level thinker, the leader of the real gamer movement, the king of anime, the king of manga, and the one who's better than you in every way, has once again returned to deliver the facts, has once again returned to deliver the greatness. Even though you losers on this Hyperbolus website simply do not deserve it.
Let me break it down for you frauds real quick. commatose by rply is the kind of level that tries to act deep, tries to act moody, like it’s got something to say — but all it really says is "I peaked at concept and fell asleep during execution." This level feels like it’s trying to be the emotional finale to a story nobody asked for. The visuals are washed-out, the pacing is sleep-inducing, and the gameplay? Bro, the gameplay got the nerve to be boring and awkward. That’s a crime. That’s community service hours right there.
It's like this level wants to be respected for its atmosphere, but forgot to be fun. commatose plays like a slideshow of missed potential, like it’s afraid to challenge the player or stand out in any real way. It’s not trash, but it sure ain’t greatness. It's the Geometry Dash equivalent of mumbling your way through a school presentation with no slides. So yeah — 5/10. You tried, rply. But next time, wake up before you hit publish.
