i reviewed this elsewhere a few months back so i'll copy it here
"Love love love this level. The theming goes so well with the song (which is also pretty good; didn't know their styles could mesh so well together!) A lot of the stuff I like about the level is just with Subwoofer's general style; I really dig his art style and snappy movements. Heard that purple was a required color for this cause of the song genre, and I think he uses that color exceptionally in the level (though I do just like purple in general lol). The whole aesthetic is just up my alley, and I love the details going into making this place feel haunted, such as the fire, skulls, and the background ghosts in the wave. As for the gameplay, it's good. I've seen a lot of people say they dislike it, and while I do think it's a bit unreadable, it's a demon; you shouldn't expect to sightread the whole thing (also there are sparkle indicators everywhere in the level). I think that unreadability adds to the level though, especially in the later parts. The split-screen gimmick is really cool and, while I'm not a fan of sideways gameplay, it works well in the level."
the split screen section is the RAWEST gmd moment of 2024
Excellent art, gameplay, and music. I especially like the design of the intro section outside of the building. The split screen section was a fantastic gameplay challenge that I played over and over in practice mode just for the enjoyment of it.
Only one section during the predrop felt dull in comparison to the rest of the level.
One of the better event levels we've gotten, not too surprising since subwoofer is quite a consistent creator overall. I see a lot of people having gripes with the gameplay, but despite the level being rather unclear to follow at times I found it to be very fun in the end. The split screen gimmick is pretty unique and done subtly enough for me to think around it and get consistent at the part, the end is a bit of a chokepoint as well but I never died once to it in a real attempt so I guess it's balanced enough? I'm also a big fan of the music representation of this level, especially with the song itself being quite addicting to listen to. The gameplay is a huge factor as to why the energy of the song is matched so well, which is quite rare to see for an art level of this caliber, and is something I can have some extra appreciation for. Overall this isnt subwoofer's strongest work, the art style has stagnated over time and I dont think I fit the target audience for what event levels are trying to cater to. But I still wish to see the level be given some credit where it's due, because it really isnt as bad as people make it out to be.
Super fun level. Everything is synced really well, and it just feels good to play. Even the three triple spikes before the drop feel synced. That one part with the screen distortion towards the end is really hard to read and basically forces you to rely entirely on music sync and muscle memory, even while learning it, which isn't great, but it's also the only complaint I have at all about the level, and I feel like the fun gameplay everywhere else in the level makes up for it. As for the deco, that feels good too. It looks really nice, and it really sets the right mood to match the song. Definitely makes you feel like you're on an adventure. The one thing that stood out to me the most was the effect that happened with the guillotine blades in the wave part, which was probably the part that felt the most intense. Overall, great level, and a good choice for the event.
