Visually speaking, very cool, but tbh, the gameplay has a lot left to be desired.
Really enjoy a lot of the effects present, but I find that ElMatoSWAG really messed up on a few fundamental aspects. For example, while playing the level, the gameplay is hardly visible. The level tends to play with things that look like structures that the player does not interact with, making the actual gameplay rather confusing. The other thing is the camera shakes. They, while trying to preserve energy that's already kept by effects, fight for prominence on screen and mess up the overall enjoyment the player might get.
Starbladesaster is a disappointing Space Gauntlet contest entry.
After hearing about this level’s flaws, I decided to get my first impression from playing it instead of watching it, and I’m glad I did, because this is mind-numbingly boring to play — over half of the level is auto. I’ve never seen a level so confidently proclaim that it’s only meant to be watched, which can also be seen by how overbearing the camera controls are. The decoration feels like it’s trying too hard, and while it’s not irredeemable, it doesn’t work well for me. Also, separating the level into acts like Change of Scene comes off as corny and is not nearly as effective here.
ElMatoSWAG some cool levels before but wow, this is a new low. I don’t know why he thought spamming camera movements was cool in any way. I really do like some of designs in this level but when you put all of them together it just ends up messy despite looking empty. I really hate this trend of making levels just for views and then, this level does not look impressive in the slightest. Bli made better impressive levels, and a lot of other creators too, including ElMatoSWAG themselves. But this one is a failed cash-grab that has no real value, that will be probably forgotten bc of how unspectacular it is and also bc of how boring ans unprofessional it is.
also, the SFX are genuinely hideous
This tries WAY too hard to produce something good looking and comepletely kills anything interesting and substantial in the process. It's not worth spamming stars and shaders and particles in your level if I can't even tell what's going on.
I also really dislike the "Acts" trend that happened after Change of Scene and that really only fits in that level and nowhere else.
