One of the few cases where I can say that realism plays against it, it really doesn't contribute much to something visually original and more just polished, only certain sections are really interesting to see, also the final boss feels too short which makes the fake endscreen feel wasted
where do i begin
i am not directing any hate towards the people involved with vulkan, they put in a lot of effort and time into making this level.
the gameplay:
the predrop is pretty unengaging and slow, yet mostly inoffensive. just sucks to play every time. the planet part is really frustrating to die to from 0 as well, since theres a few blind jumps and awkward timings.
the first boss has some really dumb timings as well, the second boss is fine despite how unsightreadable it is.
eugene is literally 5 clicks…and i’m 99% sure they are all buffers.
did i mention that like 1/3rd of this level is semiauto or cutscene, and this is THREE MINUTES? its not fun whatsoever.
the visuals:
visually this is like metamorphosis where it tries SO HARD to impress you, but ends up feeling very generic. the best part is probably the fakeout endscreen
I think the main problem with fakeout endscreens is that to anyone who's familiar with GD they are usually not convincing due to any small imperfections or inaccuracies within the endscreen animation or UI, this issue only really being able to be neutralised through near inhuman technical skill. Obviously most people don't have that, and the fact that the last bossfight only lasts for less than 10 seconds hurts the overall level quality even more. What is inhuman, though, is the cohesion of every single part which is an insane technical feat but that unfortunately doesn't translate well into level quality as this could very well be a solo with similar effect (not including the time constraint)
I think this level is really cool but should have been an easy demon it's quite fun too but that planet part doesn't play that well
Also I will never get over how clean af that fakeout looks
Really cool level, I'm very excited to see what this creator makes next. Plexify is an amazing decorator, and this level's visuals are just as good, if not better, than his previous level, Evanescence. I love the theming, it works really well with the song and would be an awesome final level of the space gauntlets, but somehow this wasn't in the top 10. While the gameplay isn't anything particularly amazing, it's pretty fun, although I do wish the difficulty was around medium-hard demon.
My main problem with the level is that the last 35% isn't great, it's a disappointment ending to me. There's only about 5 seconds of gameplay, and it feels very rushed and awkward compared to the rest of the level. The fake endscreen is neat, but it's not a very new concept (I think collab level did a better fake endscreen) and it gets boring after playing the level a few times. I think it'd be fine if there wasn't only 5 seconds of gameplay after it, but since the last third of the level is auto except for that tiny section, 65-100% feels more like a cutscene with a bit of gameplay in the middle.
It's unfortunate that the last third isn't great, because the rest of the level is amazing. Plexify is an extremely talented decorator, and Vulkan is a beautiful level. Even though I wish it wasn't so easy, the gameplay is very fun. The music sync is excellent, everything works really well with the song. Awesome level.
I was actually looking forward to seeing the final product of this level back when it was still a WIP, and god damn, this level is crazy intense. It is incredibly high quality and the bossfights are super detailed. It plays pretty well too. I thought it would be a bit unbalanced due to how much is going on, but the chaos and intensity is complimented pretty well by the gameplay. Some say it may be demon, I think 9 stars would've fit the difficulty a bit better. Although it can be borderline high 8 low 9 though, so idk.
I can't help but to really like this level. First off, I never even realized that this was a megacollab when I first played it. Secondly, unlike many levels with this style, it plays shockingly well. Thirdly, this level feels VERY clean. It takes on the realism style but it almost never feels too messy. Overall awesome level
