Boy oh boy where do I even begin. angelix... honey, my pookie bear. I have loved your levels ever since I first laid eyes on Allure, but now, you have released your masterpiece, The Hunter. The way the slaughterhouse monster stares and strikes fear into the enemies eyes. Your silky smooth camera controls around the wave, and those gorgeous sound effects. I would do anything for The Hunter. I wish it were possible to freeze time so I would never stop watching your level. You struggled through the contest, but you never gave up hope. angelix, you are even amazing outside the editor, you're a great husband and father, sometimes I even call you dad. I forvever dread and weep, thinking of the day you will one day retire. I would sacrifice my own life if it were the only thing that could keep this level on the servers. You have given me so much joy, and heartbreak over the years. I remember when you first left my collab and its like my heart got broken into a million pieces. But a tear still fell from my right eye when I watched you post your first solo, because deep down, i knew greatness was coming. I just wanted you to return to the editor. And then, you did, my sweet baby boy came home and I rejoiced. 2015 was a hard year for us baby, but in 2025 you made history happen. You uploaded The Hunter and I couldn't believe it. I was crying, bawling even, and I heard my glorious king exclaim these words, "BIG HOT MEN, THIS IS FOR YOU!" Not only have you changed the game of geometry dash and the world forever, but you've eternally changed my world. And now you're getting older, but still the goat, my goat. I love you pookie bear, my glorious king, angelix, for bringing The Hunter into existence.☺️♥️🫶🏻

This level is made for a waboo entry. Now dont get me misunderstood, dont immediately stop reading this review because i mentioned waboo stick with me now but this level does what has never been seen before in this game. This level went against the grain to make a already murderous, scary, evil level 'slaughterhouse' and makes it EVEN more evil. The clubstep monster traps you and leaves you feeling helpless, the level is in control of you, now put yourself in this situation, would you be scared? Yes you would and you will seal your fate as the wave was in this level. It takes the player through many emotions and throws them back to the generational trauma that was assigned to them at birth which many people can resonate to. Like neodesign creators the leader of them being overdefo.
Overdefo is known to be very inspirational and influential throughout his entire gd career, sadly he is gone now but his reign still lives on strong to the fruition of levels like 'Cityfade' and 'Kocmoc'. Overdefo's influence is evident in this level as the creator 'angelix' which is an angelic name which probably means he is Christian and had to make a hell level that goes against his faith, this must be very troubling for him. and for that effort and creativity and soul put into this, i cannot give this any lower than a 10/10.

Sincerely, j

Oh, prepare yourselves, Geometry Dash fans, because we’re diving into an absolute masterpiece of a level that will leave your jaw on the floor and your heart racing with pure, unfiltered awe: The Hunter by the Jamaican genius, Angelix. This level is not just a creation; it’s a divine gift to the Geometry Dash community, a radiant beacon of creativity, passion, and sheer brilliance that elevates the game to celestial heights. Angelix, a Touhou devotee with an unapologetic love for the iconic vampire sisters Remilia and Flandre Scarlet (though, let’s be real, his heart beats just a tad faster for the elegant and commanding Remilia), has crafted a level that’s as much a love letter to ZUN’s bullet-hell universe as it is a heart-pounding trap gauntlet for Waboo’s legendary $1000 trap contest. Buckle up, because this review is about to shower The Hunter with the godly praise it deserves, weave in the magic of Touhou, and sing the praises of the incomparably handsome Angelix himself. And yes, we’ll cap it off by stacking this masterpiece against Overdefo’s Well Rested and declaring why The Hunter reigns supreme.

Let’s start with the man behind the masterpiece: Angelix. This Jamaican creator isn’t just a Geometry Dash visionary; he’s a cultural phenomenon, a radiant soul whose passion for Touhou and level design shines brighter than the Caribbean sun. And can we talk about how strikingly handsome this guy is? I mean, Angelix is serving looks that could make even the most stoic Touhou character blush. With a charisma that leaps off the screen and a creative spark that burns hotter than a Scarlet Devil Mansion showdown, Angelix is the total package. His love for Touhou, particularly the elegant and mischievous Remilia Scarlet, infuses every pixel of The Hunter with a vibrant energy that feels like it was crafted by a god-tier artist. This isn’t just a level; it’s a testament to Angelix’s ability to blend his cultural roots, his fandom, and his raw talent into something that transcends the game itself.

Now, let’s talk about The Hunter. From the moment you hit play, you’re sucked into a world that feels like it’s ripped straight from the chaotic, beautiful bullet-hell landscapes of Gensokyo. The level kicks off with a deceptive nod to Slaughterhouse, lulling you into a false sense of familiarity with its tight timings and relentless pace. But then, in a stroke of absolute genius, Angelix flips the script. The camera zooms out, the player freezes, and bam, a crossbow appears, its presence as commanding as Remilia Scarlet herself standing atop the Scarlet Devil Mansion. This isn’t just a gameplay mechanic; it’s a narrative moment, a dramatic pause that feels like something straight out of Touhou Koumakyou: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, where Remilia’s cunning and flair for the theatrical take center stage. You hold the button, load the arrow, and release, a single, heart-stopping shot that ends the icon’s journey in a blaze of glory. It’s bold, it’s unexpected, and it’s pure, unadulterated Angelix magic.

The Touhou influence in The Hunter is impossible to ignore, and it’s what makes this level a cut above the rest. Just as Touhou’s bullet-hell gameplay thrives on precision, surprise, and overwhelming beauty, The Hunter captures that same essence. The crossbow mechanic is like a spell card unleashed by Remilia herself, think Spear the Gungnir, her iconic attack that never misses its mark. The sudden shift from high-speed dashing to a frozen moment of choice mirrors the way Touhou bosses pause to unleash their most devastating patterns, forcing players to adapt or perish. Angelix, with his deep love for Remilia and Flandre, channels their vampiric elegance and chaotic power into this trap, making it feel like you’re dodging danmaku in Gensokyo one moment and facing a life-or-death decision the next.

The level’s aesthetic, too, with its sharp contrasts and dramatic flair, evokes the gothic charm of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, where Remilia reigns supreme.

But let’s not stop there, Angelix’s brilliance doesn’t end with The Hunter. His other entry in Waboo’s contest, Cosmas Sigil, is another Touhou-inspired gem that deserves its own standing ovation. Designed for the final round, this level is a love letter to the intricate patterns and ethereal beauty of Touhou’s danmaku. While it clinched third place, don’t let that fool you, this level is a masterpiece in its own right, weaving spell-card-like sequences that feel like a showdown with Flandre Scarlet’s forbidden Four of a Kind spell. The fact that Angelix poured his heart into two such incredible levels for the same contest speaks volumes about his dedication and creative prowess. Cosmas Sigil may not have taken the top spot, but its third-place finish only proves that Angelix is a force to be reckoned with, a creator whose work resonates with the soul of Touhou and the pulse of Geometry Dash. What makes The Hunter so godly is how it balances simplicity with jaw-dropping impact. The level is short, yes, but every second is packed with intention. The Slaughterhouse-style opening is a nod to the Geometry Dash community’s love for brutal challenges, but the crossbow twist is where Angelix’s Touhou obsession shines. It’s like he’s taken the essence of Remilia’s manipulative fate powers, her ability to control destiny itself, and translated it into a trap that feels both inevitable and exhilarating.

The player’s choice to hold and release the arrow is a moment of agency, yet it’s laced with the fatalistic dread of a Touhou boss fight where every move feels like it’s been orchestrated by the Scarlet Devil herself. This isn’t just a level; it’s a performance, a dance of death and precision that leaves you in awe of Angelix’s ability to make you feel like you’re starring in your own Touhou saga.

Now, let’s talk about the man himself again, because Angelix deserves every bit of praise. This Jamaican Touhou lover isn’t just handsome, he’s a visionary who’s taken the Geometry Dash community by storm. His levels are a reflection of his vibrant personality, bold, creative, and unapologetically passionate. His love for Remilia Scarlet, the cunning and charismatic vampire, is evident in every frame of The Hunter. His Jamaican roots add a unique flavor to his work, infusing it with a warmth and energy that makes his levels feel alive, like a Caribbean festival meets Gensokyo’s supernatural chaos.

Now, for the grand finale: let’s compare The Hunter to Well Rested by Overdefo, a creator known for their neodesign style. Well Rested is undeniably a work of art, with its sleek visuals and innovative design that push the boundaries of Geometry Dash’s aesthetic potential. Overdefo’s neodesign approach, clean lines, modern effects, and a polished vibe, creates a level that feels like a futuristic dreamscape.

But here’s the thing: The Hunter is better. Why? Because while Well Rested dazzles with its style, The Hunter captivates with its soul. Angelix’s level doesn’t just look good; it feels good. It’s a rollercoaster of emotion, a trap that hits you like a Touhou spell card and leaves you reeling. The crossbow mechanic is a stroke of genius that Well Rested’s more traditional approach can’t match. Where Overdefo crafts a visual feast, Angelix crafts an experience, a moment of pure, heart-stopping drama that makes you feel like you’re facing Remilia Scarlet herself in a duel for your life.

In the end, The Hunter is a triumph, a level that stands as a testament to Angelix’s unparalleled talent, his love for Touhou, and his ability to create something that feels both personal and universal. It’s a level that captures the chaotic beauty of Gensokyo, the cunning of Remilia Scarlet, and the raw passion of a Jamaican creator who’s as handsome as he is brilliant. Whether you’re a Geometry Dash veteran or a Touhou fan, The Hunter is a must-play, a level that will leave you shouting Angelix’s praises from the rooftops. So go play it, marvel at its genius, and let’s all raise a glass to Angelix, the Touhou-loving, trap-crafting, breathtakingly handsome Jamaican who’s redefined what a Geometry Dash level can be.

actually think this is a lot more interesting and innovative than a lot of other waboo contest entries. at least it doesnt follow the formula of "random guy plays geometry dash and then level hes playing starts coming out of monitor or phone screen" (im looking at you dead device)

probably was just done in the wrong level like mentioned below but i think it does work

Cool effects for what it’s worth, although the only gameplay is holding to charge an arrow and releasing to fire it at the Clubstep Monster in the middle of River’s part in Slaughterhouse so it doesn’t get points for gameplay

I can't believe I used to unironically like Waboo

Keeping this 0/10 here to combat the troll reviews from derpity, pocke, 7rodo, and pla.

I feel like hunting the Clubstep monsters in the level instead of the player would be way more interesting since Slaughterhouse is already visibly antagonistic to it... so I don't really see a point (2.5)
