It doesn’t hit the same emotional beats as the levels that seem to inspire it, but it’s a fine experience. Although it’s not the levels fault, the amount of people whining about rate standards in the comments leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

note that tinraz quit the game for a good 24 hours because this was given feature rather than epic or above

XXL levels are a genre of levels that I find pretty special, especially since so many of them manage to do quite a lot with their long level length, usually with the element of progression or storytelling, and while NEW WORLD definitely manages to withhold a good amount of upbringings in terms of overall quality, unfortunately, this level sort of falls short in actually standing out in the process, much unlike most well-done XXL levels.

This isn’t to say that NEW WORLD is bad in any means though, since I think it does what it sets out to do well–the decoration is quite appealing, with my personal favorite part visually being the very first and last parts, I also liked the small effects added to further represent the level’s song, for example, the glow beams in the background and the stars that appear in the foreground in the Cube section about 44% in, and the level definitely is consistent in visual quality, which is very hard to pull off for a level that’s so long. It also plays pretty well outside of some transitions being a bit hard to get used to, and I did appreciate how straightforward it all is, since it makes it just a tiny bit easier for one to immerse themselves into the experience the level is trying to offer. The thing is, though, that’s really it. There’s not much else to NEW WORLD that’s particularly significant to me, and for being a level that has it very easy when it comes to being special because of how long it is, it’s only slightly saddening to see that Tinraz seemingly didn’t use that element to their advantage just a little bit more, since I think that if they did, it would’ve made this level all the more interesting, and it would even help it stand out more from an average well-decorated level that’s only a quarter of its length and manages to do just as much as NEW WORLD, if not more.

In an overall aspect, though, NEW WORLD does execute its ideas nicely, and I think that it’s another really good level to come of Tinraz’s level catalogue. I’m glad to see that it at least ended up Featured at the end of the day, and I do hope to see more levels from them in the future, since they definitely do know how to play a good amount of their cards right when it comes to making something that’s appealing and consistent in quality.
