There's something more important than reaching the end.
I wanna directly compare this to another famous lost level: Element 111 Rg.
E111Rg's restoration took years of research. Every new Stormfly video on it gave it continued relevance throughout the ages. Wrong turns and nonsense throughout. As more parts were unveiled, some became iconic for their difficulty, strange gameplay, or even their association with specific players.
ICTX was also long sought-after, has major difficulty spikes, and while not as weird as E111Rg, the gameplay certainly isn't like most levels. The difference is that it didn't have a long and interesting journey attached to its restoration. It was anticlimactic, simply roadbose coming back and building it from memory without any previews or prior announcements.
After nearly 10 years, we finally have something officially resembling the lost finale to the ICE Carbon series. Unlike Roadbose’s other restorations, I’ve heard this one was based more on speculation than memory, since Road doesn’t remember much. That contradicts Restoration Union’s video description, but makes sense to me. In any case, I think the team did a great job at matching the energy of ICE Carbon Diablo X… up until the very unsatisfying ending. I can’t help but feel bittersweet about the level as a result.
I don't know why people are calling this old since this is a level that Roadbose made based on the memory of an unreleased level so it's basically a new level. That original, unreleased ICE Carbon Titan X may be old, but this version is more of a remake than it is that elusive original level. Still, it's fine for the final ICE Carbon level; it doesn't have the ominous atmosphere Diablo X has but I think it instead contrasts nicely with that level, being a blue, more structured analog to the former level.
Nothing special here, but theming is pretty strong for the time. Way above my skill level so I can't really play it
