good art showcase
From an artistic point of view, this is certainly an amazing level. Even tho the theme may be a little too much “strong” I would’ve NEVER thought visuals like this were even possible in GD and that alone makes the level really impressive and most likely one of the most unique ones I’ve ever seen. GloryEX and the whole team did a great job at this and I’m glad this level exists as to show what’s possible in GD.
My only real issue is the gameplay. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very easy and readable, but the issue for me is that it’s just…boring and forgettable. For me, most of the previous Event levels had really unique and readable gameplay that perfectly matches the song (especially Funhouse), but this one feels like Rage Quit, where despite having phenomenal effects and atmosphere, it wouldn’t make any difference for me to either play it or just watch a showcase of it on YT. I understand it’s not always easy to get creative with gameplay and I still think this level 100% deserves the Mythic considering what it is able to do in the span of 2 minutes, but to me, Event levels should have something more that make them more special than normal levels, not just “astonishing visuals and effects”.
Otherwise, I had no other problems playing this level and I’m glad it was conceived and brought into reality in the first place by some of the most talented creators in this community. Definitely deserves all the attention it can get.
In all honesty, the visuals are so good here that you could submit this for best animated short film at the Oscars and it could definitely get nominated, if not win. This level of quality is unheard of in most animation shorts, and this was made in GEOMETRY DASH. Not Paint, not Blender, GEOMETRY DASH. You cannot tell me that this level isn't one of the best visual experiences in GD history. I literally logged back into this website after months of inactivity JUST to talk about this level. It's that good.
The gameplay is getting a lot of criticism here, but people don't realize that for such a visually heavy level, simple, easy, and sight-readable gameplay is the best thing you could ask for. If it was any more complex, people would die from things they cant understand through one single playthrough and would ragequit the level, not giving it a chance to truly show itself. In my playthrough, I felt like most of the gameplay was engaging enough to get me to react to something, but not too distracting for me to look away from the godlike visuals. It's simple, yes, but it's essential to the playing experience. People need to see levels as pieces of art instead of just a level to get past for stats, because they are art. This is art.
2 parts before the middle cutscene are crazy
Okay so normally levels like this I am really not a fan of, one's that are entirely visuals being the same theme of either space or nature it gets really old really fast and I never really liked them in the first place, this level differs from those, the theming is genuinely engaging and the artwork and design is so impressive to where I can't ignore it, unfortunately it follows the trend of sacrificing gameplay for the sake of decoration but i'll honestly give it some points for being able to incorporate any gameplay seamlessly into the designs and decoration, the entire section between 45 to 71 is insane and I have to show appreciation for that work of art.
