having my worst experience playing this game definitely hurts it a lot but man this level sucks ass, terrible gameplay, mid leaning to bad visuals that are only ruined more by the terrible moving objects on 47% and a complete incoherence with the song. i get it's a replacement but i hate fracture so much. oh and that 47% part? it is easily the most obnoxious and annoying thing to ever exist on geometry dash. NEVER PLAY THIS LEVEL

keep it rated tho it deserves it for waiting so long

ANTO REVIEWS #3 - Expect the unexpected

Honestly, i feel like some levels have such a level of infamy behind them that it makes players care about them a lot more than they would if it was just any ordinary level, and i feel like WcropoliX is a perfect representation of this phenomenon.

This level's fame comes from the fact that despite how important this level was in terms of difficulty (being harder than bloodbath at the time it was verified), it was never rated and this caused a similar effect as with a level like Tidal Wave, where tons of people rallied for it to be rated, except for this level it wasn't just for a month or two, it was years and the rallying behind the level wasn't as serious but treated as a meme due to the fact that nobody expected this to get rated, which is why everyone was surprised when just yesterday, the thing that nobody expected finally ocurred: WcropoliX was rated!

Now i've spent all this review so far talking about the level's history, but... How is the level in actuality?

Well... This level is rivals Nantendo for the most dated level in all of GD history, design-wise, this level looks bad, and has tons of really janky movements, and the gameplay itself is basically a bunch of glorified challenge levels stitched together awkwardly. Truly an awful level.

And yet, i can't help but love it for that matter, this level's awfulness actually somewhat works towards its favor, giving a sort of charm no other level (aside from maybe thinking space) has managed to replicate, it's weird i know, but somehow this level (kinda) works despite its overwhelming amount of flaws

I can't bring myself to give this level anything above a 7, as i do not believe it deserves it, but this level is just too iconic for me to not have any sort of bias when reviewing it...

I legit thought this was rated a few years ago. Was this level unrated at some point? I swear people were celebrating about it getting rated in 2023.

Wcropolis is a fucking fever dream nightmare level so it feels really odd that its remake is almost indistinguishable from AcropoliX. This is one of the most orthodox levels ever made.

Every man has 2 fantasies

One of them came true today

Completely different (and much better) feeling than the original Wcropolis. A lot of that is the song obviously, but it's also the gameplay. In fact, the song change is matched by the gameplay really well. Also there are two specific highlights I want to mention:

First and last waves: Instead of simply spamming on through a corridor, it's the same structure but converted into timings, somehow. Simply adding tiny sawblades completely changes how you approach it, and the way you approach it is also something you rarely see, especially at the time.

3x speed ship: Typically, the less intense portion of the level/song is slow, and the more intense portion is fast, right? This flips that on its head and does that perfectly. The whole first half of this level is filled with slow, tight gameplay that grinds away at you with restricted movement. Then the drop ends, and you suddenly speed up and fly up and down without restraint. It's otherworldly.

Also yes, of course the difficulty (and especially the fact it took so long to get rated) affects my opinion of this level.

"Only reason it's remembered?" Yeah, and it makes it more memorable!
