Definitely an improvement over the other Fenniko level I’ve reviewed.
It has a stronger theme, is more consistent in quality thanks to the artstyle which is way more refined here. The inspirations here are still very obvious but this time, they’re well integrated into the level to make one cohesive experience with a nice sense of progression and all. The song representation is great as well and the changes in environment feels natural.
My only issues would be the gameplay which is just not it. It’s nice idea to have appearing gp to the song but it’s so poorly executed that it just makes the level artificially harder and keeps everyone away from playing it (except if you like the level enough to not bother ig). Some moments of the level also don’t feel as impactful as I wished they are (the drop especially) but they still work fine and that could be improved in the future. The ending was a nice idea and reminded me a lot of Moving Forward’s ending (which is one of the few parts that is actually incredible in that level) but it needs a bit more sauce for me to be justified.
Yeah, overall, this is a step in the right direction for Fenniko. Still has some flaws, but not as bad. I’m pretty sure Fenniko will be able to make a very good level if he keeps going and if he manages to better execute his themes and ideas. I hope for him that he makes a level that he considers higher than a 2/10 🙏.
Keep going, you are getting there…
