frankly, i think the sheer existence of this level is rather selfish. [for context, this is an entry towards the first platformer-only viprin creator contest, but also cherryteam's first platformer level]. this level to me feels like cherryteam boldly and proudly declaring that they deserve to win the contest just for being cherryteam - a sensational, popular, well-established creator team, much better than the likes of other typically solo creators entering the contest.
deja vu doesn't have any interesting ideas, gameplay, designs or anything worth of value to it, but this really shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody if you view it through the lens that cherryteam likely views it from. it's not meant to be good; it's meant to be a cherryteam entry into the viprin CC: the first cherryteam platformer, worthy of praise, worthy of being celebrated as a masterpiece, finally bringing their iconic art style into the platformer level medium.
with this perspective, the idiotic design choices should start to slot into place. of course this level doesn't play well - it wasn't meant to be played, it was meant to be watched as a nexus showcase. it's insulting to the idea of platformers being a gameplay-first level mode, especially so when submitted to a platformer-only creator contest, meant to encourage and celebrate great level design
