As inherently flawed as Idols is, I find that it is reflective of its own time, like Zodiac is. Idols generally looks extremely messy and its incoherency being the only thing holding it together, ironically. Idols' energy also never really feels insincere and doesn't really try to hide its own flaws, evidently
