(re-review)
Before completing this level I thought this was some iPad kid slop made to be watched on a screen. To some extent that IS true, as the decoration takes priority over the gameplay. Even then, the gameplay is actually pretty good. The two main chokepoints are the 3D part and the ending which kills most of your runs. I don’t mind the 3D part being harder as it weeds out the inexperienced players, and it’s at the beginning. The problem with the final parts is that every time you die, you have to spend up to 2 minutes just to get back to that part. I understand it’s a climactic part but the visuals get in your way and make it an unfun experience.
For those who don’t know, this level is named after the computer virus of the same name (Hence the virus/computer theme). A lot of the block design in the beginning and drop is reminiscent of null textures, and doesn’t use a lot of objects. In fact, out of the top 10 this was the only level I could play lag-free on my old laptop.
We don’t talk about the song. It is corny as all hell, be lucky that Kira9999 knows how to use song cuts people. Good beat but weird lyrics/vocals. Trust me on this one!
Overall I think WANNACRY definitely deserved a placement somewhere in the top 5, but I doubt its Mythic rating for one reason: Magistro.
Magistro - 3rd place (Legendary)
WANNACRY - 4th place (Mythic)
Even if Magistro was rated before the contest Rob could’ve rerated it to Mythic post-results and given Wannacry either rating. Oh well
