LillyVX is someone whose levels have been a huge inspiration for the style I mostly find myself building in today, so obviously I am a big fan of her levels. However, out of all the levels she's made, this is probably my favorite. Firstly, I love the usage of a blocky art style in this level, and it creates an incredibly unique atmosphere while remaining sightreadable and authentic to the game. Also, the usage of a a gloomy, stormy background with a fiery pink/red foreground is a super unique contrast that I don't see often, and most levels I would expect to either fully go with a fiery theme or a stormy theme. The way the contrasting elements are blended together is also incredibly well done, with the foreground feeling like you're traversing through abandoned ruins, which is also emphasized by the usage of lightning to sync to the song. The only nitpick I have with the deco is that the structuring in the end does feel a bit less interesting than the first parts, being made of just 1x1 and 2x2 blocks, however they are still used well and don't take away much from the level.

Speaking of syncing to the song, the usage of the song is incredibly well done here. The transitions that use the lyrics of the song to mesh parts together are another super unique idea that I think was pulled off extremely well, as well as the level generally representing the different parts of the song incredibly well. When the song becomes less abbrasive, the level switches from the pinkish red foreground to a blue foreground, matching perfectly. The ending feels like reaching the apex of the storm, with bigger lightning striking more often, making the ending of the level feel like the most climactic part.

Gameplay wise, the level is very solid, not doing much out of the ordinary but generally being a fun and enjoyable level. There were a few clicks and transitions that felt a bit sudden/awkward, but they weren't much of an issue at all and that is mostly a nitpick. One aspect I really liked was how wave spam was used to match with the fast beats in the song in the transitions, using a common type of gameplay in a unique way.

Overall, this is an incredibly well made level from a few years back that I still find myself coming back to often, and a level that greatly shaped how I personally build.
