A remake is characterized by replicating the essence of the original level, but with some changes that make the remake unique and at the same time familiar.
Now that I gave the definition of what a remake is (or at least for me):
This is NOT a remake of the famous level "High Life". Ironically, "Magic Life" killed the magic that made High Life unique and original. The only thing I see in this level is a good idea from the creator Migueword, converted into a generic SEMIDECO glow level, with effects so constant that they get tired to the eye, a glow so bright that it kills what little visual enjoyment some parts have.
Gameplay-wise, it's literally the most flowy/generic thing I've ever seen, adding really unnecessary items to the level, killing everything that made High Life gameplay recognizable. Although I appreciate that the level has a small extension, the gameplay of the last part is almost a joke, with a very flowy dual.
"Magic Life" is a bad example of what a remake is, it's just tragic.
