My rate scale is half what rate I think the level should get and half how much I personally like the level. Interested to hear your thoughts on it, and would also like to know if I should switch to a scale where it's entirely based on how much I personally like the level
Essentially, this is like a post in the Viprin + Paste feedback channel but on Hyperbolus
I think a rate system that is a mix between how much you personally like the level and what rating you think it should get can be done well (I'm not familiar with what Viprin+Paste does so I can't comment on that), however I really don't like your current approach since your "reviews" aren't much of reviews and just mathematical equations where you combine the two numbers for an overall score but you aren't giving a whole lot of input as to why you are giving them the numbers you are, especially with your personal input where you usually only write a couple of words (and in the case of Wistful Wilds, nothing at all) and I don't really have a clear idea about what you really think about the level. As a rate system I think it's alright, but as a review system (which I'm assuming it is being used as one to some extent considering you use the review box in your ratings to explain your rating) it's very flawed to me.
Also, I don't think how much you personally like the level & what rating you think it should get should have equal weight in your ratings/reviews. How much you personally like the level should be given much more weight since what rating you think the level should have is a lot more brief and one-dimensional of a factor than your personal opinion on the level itself, perhaps a 7:3 ratio would be better instead?

Thank you for the feedback, I will take it into consideration. For all future ratings, how much I like the level will have 3x the weight of the deserved rating (75:25), and I will only explain my rating if I write a full review on the level. I’ll edit my current ratings later to reflect this change.
Ok I finished editing my current ratings to reflect this change
For me it depends level to level. The harder a level is, the more I prioritise gameplay playability and general integration with the rest of the level (I suppose this would be considered a more holistic outlook), up to roughly 50/50 for extremes, but it really depends on what the level's trying to do conceptually and how it actually plays/looks. By and large I'd say I consider decoration more important, but really what matters most to me is all the elements share the same vision and they all work off each other well
