The level is quite long, but it's not all that complicated and the gameplay is honestly quite fun. I would definitely recommend this to someone if they want to try and go for a level in which it tests their endurance and mentality. The decoration in this level though, it's fantastic. It makes incredible use of glow, and it compliments with the ambience and atmosphere of the song so incredibly well. Initially, when I made that video where I went over my 12 favorite Easy Demons in the game, I put this at 11th in the video because I didn't wanna give too much bias to recently released levels (which is ironic because I gave WannaCry such high praises), but after some time of me gathering more of my thoughts, its now in my Top 5.
My favorite demon in the game overall.
I've had my fair share of playing XXL levels, and I've grown to liking them because it's a patience and endurance test, and I do like it when a level aims to see how much I can handle before quitting out. This one... this is where me liking them took a turn. If you want a level in which its song representation is done incredibly well, this is the definitive example. The decoration of this level very much compliments the song so much. It's atmosphere & vibe are just... incredible. At this rate, I think I don't need to elaborate further on the decoration as we can all agree that the decoration is amazing. It's the culmination of cometface's creating career put into one level. Now for the gameplay, it does a good job at keeping you on your toes for the whole 7 minutes of you playing the level. And not once did I find it to be boring. Again, XXL levels are mainly a patience and endurance test, if you want something harder that can help you improve both of those, especially after doing one that is an easy demon. I'd say go for this. And then once you do beat it the first, go ahead beat it again because you feel like it's quite the fun and engaging one to play. I sure did... I've beaten it probably 8 times. I think that'll hit double digits soon.
Well Rested is a fantastic level. One that has incredible song representation in terms of the decoration, and gameplay that is fun and engaging to go for.
Another level that I've admittingly already elaborated my thoughts on in a video, so here I am just copy pasting what I said in that video... lol
Initially, I thought this level would be too much of a visual marble and I thought it wouldn't be good because of it. But that was pre-WannaCry completion, post-WannaCry completion, this has become my favorite Mythic demon in the game so far. It's worth mentioning that this level is in reference of the WannaCry ransomware attack back in 2017. And thus, the level takes place in a computer setting. Which is why the gameplay at the start has some bits referencing the texture error, and the swing has monitors that you follow along as you go back and forth. I think with taking note on what the level is referencing, the decoration does an incredibly good job representing it while being its own thing. Taking gameplay into account. I think because of the fact that most of the gameplay is static, it does help you focus a bit on the level that you are indeed playing. And because of it, I think the gameplay is very fun to learn. Aside from the beginning. The part looks good, but oh my god I can't really tell what's going on here. Thankfully this sort of gameplay is only at the start of the level. The rest of the gameplay is typical GD gameplay. That pretty much sums up my thoughts on WannaCry. It's a fantastic GD level, it's very fun to play, and it does a good job representing what it's trying to reference. This'll definitely be remembered as time goes on.
So this is my new favorite easy demon in the game. The more that I think about it, the more I really appreciate the level in its entirety. The art style of this level feels incredibly lively, and the atmosphere of both modes are incredibly breathtaking. The gameplay, unironically very fun to get it all down in one run, and it's not all too complicated. No gimmick, nothing blinding, just your standard GD Gameplay. Not to mention, the effing dragon that joins you along the ride for a bit.
I've mentioned this before in another Glubfuberz level (Stardust Sanctuary), but some things that I really like about his levels is his art style and his usage of colors. He really knows his way on how to make use of the colors he chooses without it feeling out of place. And the art style, as I said with this level, feels incredibly lively. I've started to really like his stuff because of these two reasons alone. May be one of my top 5 favorite creators for me.
Anyhow, long story short, this level (in my opinion) is absolutely amazing.
I'm a just copy paste the stuff that I said from my 12 Favorite Medium Demons video:
Formally was my favorite demon level overall before Well Rested took its place. The pure concept of a MetroidVania like level in GD. Multiple paths to take, outcomes so incredibly different from one another. And this was before we had the tools necessary to pull it off. This level... is incredibly unique. As I said, there are multiple paths to take, and the outcomes are so incredibly different from one another. Either you are playing a medium demon or an insane demon. The difficulty of the level varies depending on what path you are taking. I really think the gameplay excels in this level because of it. It's standard path is what makes it a Medium Demon though, and I don't blame you for going for this path first. The other paths are hard. Decoration into account, the parts are very different in terms of artstyle, but it compliments the atmosphere very well based on what area you are currently in. And... also my biases towards castle themed level. I've established them once before, I'll say it for the sake of this review, castle themed levels really suit my fancy, and this level very much solidifies it.
Now to conclude it off, CastleMania is quite the unique level. One that I really, really, REALLY like. And I think it is something that really can't be replicated again because of us now having the tools to do so.
I've talked about this level quite the marginal amount of times, and this is one I considered to be my favorite Extreme Demon of all time. Firstly, the decoration. Quite simple in terms of the designs and visuals, and the effects are not overbearing. It represents the song incredibly well too. The gameplay, incredibly satisfying. The click pattern is easily recognizable, and it syncs well with the song too. I do think it's quite underrated for its difficulty. A lot of specific timings, and I don't think I need to mention the wave at the start. lol.
All in all though, it is an incredible level, and one in which I really did enjoy playing myself.
This is one most interesting entries for the Space Gauntlet Contest. It explores more on what we think about space, and what we as people view it as. It's got incredibly clean decoration, and the gameplay is really good. Very readable, and gets straight to the point. I would like to see this place in the gauntlet.
