Emulates the song through beautifully kitsch decoration and unorthodox structuring gaps. Beautifully ugly, I would say. Every single drop in this level gives me goosebumps
Whirl I am so sorry you had to use this song
Generally mediocre premise of an alien takeover / abduction with an interesting twist where you get experimented on. The general aesthetic direction of the level is nothing too special, focusing on flatly coloured art designs throughout the level as the basis for its decoration. The blending mask filter tends to counteract the cleanliness of the designs as it makes the values blend in together more which I'm not really a big fan of.
I'm quite surprised that the designs made it past RobTop as the alien designs are somewhat disturbing despite the cartoonish style and blood is very clearly visible throughout one of the sections, but this definitely helps it differentiate itself from other event levels in a good way so I'm not complaining. Unfortunately the song does nothing to service the theme of the level but honestly I don't think the song is salvageable in any way lmfao
The gameplay in this is somewhat nondescript except that the balancing is really weird. Most of the level is 6* difficulty while the bossfight is easy demon difficulty, averaging out to about 8-9*. No clue how this got rated Easy Demon and Backstreet Boy didn't but oh well
diff: low 9*
score: 6-6.5
rating i would give: epic
The hazy neon atmosphere paired with the dark, distorted vocals of the song feel almost feverish in a way. Lin Anya's rave-like visuals are comparable to flashbacks during a really bad hangover -- this is surprisingly strong theming for a Russian glow flow level - an archetype of level usually characterised by minimalist and lack of stylisation (neither good nor bad). However the gameplay in this is the most dysfunctional and horrific gameplay in a level I have ever touched, with an enormous chokepoint at 44% and a dual part that genuinely does not function at all. There is no way this was not hack verified because the lack of playtesting in this level is extremely obvious. Did not have fun beating this. I guess you could say that you stumbling around and dying to random things fits the rave aesthetic so I'm bumping this one up just a bit
Initially starts out relatively normally, then blooms into something beautiful. Fantasy Seal reminds me of Chinese New Year memories from my childhood, while also using my favourite main level song, so I'm assuming my love for this level is heavily nostalgia based. Still though, how was this even made in 1.8
Actually mindblowing stuff. Sculptures feels novel in a way that hasn't really been explored by any other creator. The structuring in this feels completely alien, with a colour harmony that is so varied, yet incredibly pretty to look at. You'd think the gameplay in this would suffer, but no -- it feels incredibly tactile and smooth to play and ends up being a blast. How does flash get away with this?
