ah. ok then
i will hence quote the comments on the showcase because theyre funny:
"The instagram gauntlet winner"
"nexus (on description of "nirvana" showcase): i can't wait to see what ctrx brings to the table next!
what ctrx brings to the table next:"
"my notebook after i scribbled a small line with a pencil in my friend's notebook:"
"The music: 🔥🔥🔥
The level:"
"Amazing decoration, some flaws however in the structures, i do like that unique right angled structure though!"
Only trace amounts of good present here. Not an all too original take on the space theming, which isn't inherently a sin by itself, but it's a shame, really. If it were at least somewhat original instead of trying to capture the grandiosity and momentousness that space imagery provides like countless other entries have, I would have at least something good to say about it.
Many levels undercut their song rep, but this is probably the first level I've ever seen to overdo it, and to this comically large extent! The result almost parodies itself. This downright extremely unnecessary intensity is backed by absolutely no gameplay. There's also a complete absence of structuring but unlike other levels that execute it tastefully it just looks like stock assets placed haphahazardly. the intro cutscene is passable and would sell the atmosphere somewhat okay but it's also followed by hands down one of the worst parts I've ever seen in a high profile level ever made. The camera in that part (and by extension, most of the level) is comically intense I have no idea how even 5 year old kids with doorknobs for frontal lobes can take it seriously. The song also makes this level even worse which I think is a compliment consdering how multiplicatively these compound onto each other unlike any other level I have ever seen.
The second half is okay by comparison but that's mainly because it's not egregiously terrible. I don't have anything else to say about it. It still has basically no coherent gameplay structure despite being auto and it focuses more on trying to aurafarm than anything else. So not great.
Boss design and the slice animation is cool. Those are the only things I genuinely like about this. The bridge where the cube jumps between different perspective layers is nice but it's very minor and I only just noticed that
I think the first half drags it down juuuuuust enough to the depths of hell.
...
I can't tell if this is a joke level or not; I hope so.
There are three things I can confidently point out as things I like about this level: the galloping syncing to the wave, the spikes falling apart after every beat in the first part and the recursive expanding circles that simulate echoes. That's it. Most of the remainder is awful or borderline irredeemable. Any other good ideas that are present in this thing are immediately quashed by what surrounds them. Generally awful conceptually, generally awful execution
And I don't think I would've cared that this level butchers nearly everything so badly if this level used some random EDM song with 200 plays from the depths of Newgrounds. No its fucking United In Grief
*edit: im conflicted now because its a wgdps level but people in the comments section are praising it. very unsure what to think
Song is literal pedophile bait. Deco complements that. Normally this is a good thing but you can immediately see the problem here. The gameplay is extremely obscured in areas meaning that you actually have to spend a disproportionate amount of time learning it compared to other levels of similar difficulty. This is also another immediately obvious issue.
[Old Natural Disaster]
Yet another progenitor of a style that basically was dated on arrival - it still goes unnamed but I guess one way to describe it aptly is "Amateur 2.1 Design-Glow Hybrid". Unoriginal... everything and it still managing to be THIS snooze inducing and frankly ugly is astounding (0.5)
So bad it's bad. Uninspired, bland, synonyms. Please make anything else
